For the same reason you don't change your oil when it's cold. I don't have to change it that hot, of course, but I want to get as much out as I can each time I do it, so It's going to be at least 130° when I do. ?

As I understand it the highest level in the pan is when it’s sat the longest ( cold). So if you’re trying to extract the most fluid wouldn’t that be the optimal time to do so?

Thanks for that. I hadn't seen that before. I have Been doing some research and found the 10R80 doesn't have a thermostatically a controlled check valve like other transmissions, so in agreement with your comment, fluid temp shouldn't matter. Just to put it out there ULV viscosity, while already very thin, drops from 19.2@100°F to 4.5@>130°F.

Thanks for that. I hadn't seen that before. I have Been doing some research and found the 10R80 doesn't have a thermostatically a controlled check valve like other transmissions, so in agreement with your comment, fluid temp shouldn't matter. Just to put it out there ULV viscosity, while already very thin, drops from 19.2@100°F to 4.5@>130°F.

If I let my truck sit overnight and drain I get ~5qt. If I let it sit 3 days, I get ~7.5 qts out. I change my fluid cold. It does flow slower but that is not a bad thing if you are measuring what comes out.
Easier to stop at a quart levels. And then change the gallon jugs. Tip: Be sure to use the hose clamps to secure the hoses, and use a brass plug on the output hose end to keep it in the jug.

I never spill a drop. Put exactly the same amount in as you took out.

I'm waiting on the PTFE braided hose, hopefully soon I will have a 350' roll of it, maybe today, most likely the beginning of next week.

This time it will be a little longer but I'm usually only 3 days between batches, so if I'm out, check back in a few days.
