The FX4 package was born from this forums @P. A. Schilke , the frontstory is he got the idea for improving off-road racing suspension by watching Tito struggle to overcome obstacles at "racing speeds" (dinner time)... by adding some duct tape and rubber bands in various locations , Tito became unstoppable, and soon after so did the Ford Ranger that we all love today ...

I won 5 bucks lol he was saying the suspension components are completely different and they used a different chassis for the Fx4 model. Negative ghost rider… He may have been thinking of the Ranger Raptor? Trying to give him benefit of doubt lol

The only difference in the suspension is the shocks and struts they come with from the factory. Other than that, they’re the same truck. There’s a few slight differences like skid plates (which my 4x4 has also, just not as robust) and the terrain management system.

Was going back and forth with a buddy of mine the other day. Figured I’d post here to get some input so I can put this to rest and win $5… What is the difference between Ford’s 4x4 and Fx4 suspension? Not Ranger specific, just in general.

My Fx4 pkg came with skid plates, the terrain management and differential lock. Not sure what else

Does sand mode really disable traction control? Because I would used it daily!

I'm not sure on sand mode but when I engage the trail control system in my truck I can go from roadway to damp bumpy grass to rutted up steep logging trails with loose stone easier than a kitten climbing a set of curtains when it's running from a dog.
