Wes, do you mount these in place with the spare or did you relocate the wheel elsewhere? Thanks.
Yeah, they use the OE spare location, after you've relocated it. Mines on a rear swing out.

Another option.

I could set it up with a small 12v fuel pump. I’veseen people T into their fuel filler but that probably counts as tampering with your emissions. Pumping right through your existing gas filler is less convenient but easier in some ways.
You could plumb this is to your filler neck, would just need a one-way valve to prevent the tank from losing pressure and throwing a code. I have done this to a couple of vehicles, that being said none of them had a capless filler so I don't know if you would have to vent the tank while filling or not.

I added two of these the other day: https://www.trailedonline.com/product-page/4runner-and-tacoma-6-gallon-spare-tank-2-pack

That's 12 gallons of additional fuel. I rarely need that much, but that one stretch between Baja Sur and Baja Norte...
Dang, that is a clever product. I still use my spare and probably will as I may not go bigger than 275/70/17 anyway but when I camped in our Honda Pilot, that spot was unused and I always wanted to make use of it! Especially when we towed with the Pilot.

Shared this on my social media because the crossover off-road crowed will love it (assuming it fits their spare openings).

Only problem with that is it is not road legal. With that said it depends on what state you live in to weither or not the state does regular inspections or not. Oh and dont forget about moving to a different state. They get you on that too.

So as I am sure most people here including myself would like the option of a bigger fuel tank for offroad adventures or perhaps you dont want to stop as much on the road. Currently I am in the works with a company from Australia to get such to happen. Prices on the fuel tanks would be unknown at this time but if we can get enough support I'm sure we can get a nice group buy too happen. I want your input on this guys!! Lets make this a possible thing!!
Would be great for those that tow. I get about 10.5 towing, real pain to stop every 180 miles

If someone is willing to reduce departure angle a bit (eg only on highway), why not put one of these tanks on TOP of the spare? The spare will need to drop a bit, but both should fit. And the spare will provide protection for the tank from road debris.

Total weight on the mount could be an issue.

You are not wrong.
FrontRunner has a spare tire mountable fuel tank as well. 83L/22gal, steel, plumbs to the filler neck. Double your range without filling or dumping portable cans.... if legal in your area.

Yeah good luck getting it. They will not sell it to the United States

I assumed they were in USA, my FR rack system shipped from California.

Do they ship to Canada? I've heard of re-mailer services who may be able to help, or if you knew a like minded Canadian who lived a few hours from Michigan...

It all depends on the regulation. FrontRunner will sell things too many different countries all together and if you go to that link you will notice there's a different flag. If I'm not mistaken this one of the African flags but I'm not positive.

That's South America. It also tells you if you add it to your cart and try to check out.

It is S. Africa, which is odd because I started on the USA site. I'm not interested in it, but tried to buy it out of curiosity. They re-direct you, but the tank isn't on the international site.
