Back in them there olden days you ordered a car, and then went down an order sheet, checking off each individual item you wanted, from engine to under dash tissue holder....that's what makes the older vehicles so "individual".
I ordered several new cars back then, 64 Falcon Sprint, 69 Pontiac GTO Ram Air 4, 73 Olds Delta 88 Hardtop, and all were ordered with options checked off a separate option sheet.
Our Rangers....nothing rare at all, no matter how you ordered it, as most of the options come with "packages", and we all have the same engine/tranny combo's......just not a lot of individual items/options you can get.
I think it may be "zero sum." in all but large metro areas, most new buyers in the 50's & 60's spec'ed out their orders, and some options were restricted by model hierarchy; couldn't get a clock in a Mainline, for example. Nowadays, even small dealers have dozens of vehicles for spot delivery, and dealers order from a formula recommended by the zone or factory. The formula is based on what is trending in other makes, production efficiency and parts availability.
That's why if Ranger XLT SuperCabs are trending at 10% mix, and your 30 day allocation is 9 Rangers, You may not want to stock any XL or Lariat SuperCabs, or any SC's at all. So, the outlier vehicles are somewhat rare to begin with, and the customer-ordered units w/individual options make them rarer still. Ford sold 94,755 Rangers 2021, and I am guessing supercabs were 10% or less. That would leave ~9700 SC's of all configurations. Assuming 10% is reasonably accurate, break it down further by how many of those were Carbonized Grey, how many were XLs, how may of those were 4X4, how many FX4, How many STX, now how many had factory mud flaps, and so on...Unicorn?

To paraphrase a post from the Mustang forum,

If you park your Ranger in a lot, and walking to the store, you don't look back...
You don't love your Ranger.

This makes the Ranger Angels cry.
Okay, I made up the angels thing.

...when I rather drive my Ranger 800 miles in 12 hours than fly there in 2...come to think of it...2 hours in jail would be preferable to 2 hours flying...

You'd definitely get more space, and the food can't be worse...

The food is definitely, infinitely better! I can stop and whip up anything in my fridge and cook it up with my camp gear the way I like it...if I'm lazy, I choose any restaurant on the way...

Actually, I meant in jail, but yes, I totally agree with the benefits of road-tripping; I haven't flown down to NC in a long time, I always drive.

I ran the numbers about a decade ago, and between getting to the airport, being there X hours early for all of the government stuff, doing the actual flying, getting a rental and then having to get from the airport, it takes me almost as long to fly as to drive, costs me about 30x more, and the rental probably barely has the power to handle the mountains in the summer, never mind the winter. Or, I can drive down in much greater comfort, not have to worry about oversize luggage charges, and know that my truck can handle the terrain.

And I don't have to worry about my wheels or doors falling off...zero chance someone taking a piss in the isle next to me...nor do I have to worry about "thatmuthafukasnotreel" in the back seat...???

I always look back, more than once…
If wifey/partner doesn’t get jealous of your Ranger…you don’t love your Ranger ?..
Seriously though my step daughter gave me the business about how the only thing I care about is my truck, that it’s been over a year and I’m still obsessed with it ?…. Sorry “Love has no date of expiration.”

I wonder if we can get the Admin to add the ”eye roll” Emoji to the reaction line. I mean, you already have a respectable reaction score, but it could be a game changer.

I know it would likely double mine. ?
