I wouldn't worry to much about it. I'm assuming Ford contracted these out to a different vendor for the 2020's and that's why there's a problem now. Hopefully they fix this quickly but I do question who ever is in charge of QC!
I believe you are correct on contracting to a different vendor, but I don't believe it to be only on the 2020's. There are some that have the poor seats on 2019's built in March of 2019. I wonder if they are sourcing them from two different vendors in order to meet production requirements (one vendor cannot produce enough). Ford Customer Care has authorized my dealer to replace my two bucket seat covers and I am waiting for the replacement covers to come in. I asked the person from Customer Care what would happen if the replacements are just as bad (the probability is high since what Ford is building with is bad). She told me they would just keep replacing them until I get good seats. I would think Customer Care could somehow put a notification into the parts system that would require the parts personnel to inspect before shipping. I hope Ford's Quality Dept and Purchasing personnel, are aware of the very poor quality their supplier(s) are sending them. Hell, the QC people on the assembly line should see this crap and refuse to ship it.

Just when you get back in a Ranger you now have to deal with the seats. I'm would be worried about the replacements and how they are being made. There's something during production causing the poor quality of seats. I'd like my drivers seat to get looked at but I'm afraid to see the replacements. I can live with a slight bubble in the drivers back portion of the seat. For now....
I'm with you....the replacement leather seat covers are probably just as bad as the originals. Mine are on order, so I will see first hand what the replacements are like.

This is exactly why I’m going with the Katzkins next year on my XLT.

That being said, when I traded in my 2014 Focus it has 65k miles on it and the leather looked like it had never been sat in. Fair assumption to say the newer seats just are not as well manufactured (or as high a quality) as the older ones.

The Katskins are really nice and if I kept my trucks longer than 3 years I would consider going that way too. Unfortunately like most things now a days the price just keeps going up but the quality goes down. I really didn't expect this from Ford especially with the mid size truck market getting bigger they need to stay ahead of the competition.

Happy to hear they’re taking of this. We have the stone leather in our 2020 and it looks pretty good; not like that. So they’re not all bad (hopefully!).

I posted recently in another thread about how the leather in my two bucket seats in my 2020 Lariat Crew Cab is getting loose after only having the truck a few days and at less than 60 miles. I am interested in how the leather in other trucks is holding up. I hoping some of you will post here so I can get a good feel as to how widespread this is. I am attaching a few pictures of the seats in my new truck. I appreciate any feedback you all can give me. Thanks!

Wow, I have a 2019 Lariat and do not have any divetts like those.

I am not sure what would cause that other than maybe insufficient support under the leather.

I’ll post a pic later but mine are worse than that. Almost looks like more padding is needed.
Glad to hear CS is addressing the issue.

Seat covers like that are completely unacceptable in a $40K+ vehicle, perhaps in a mid-seventies product but certainly not in the 21st. century.
I will inspect the covers on my soon to arrive 2020 Lariat, if they suffer from the same lack of quality, I'll point it out to the dealer and have them document it prior to delivery.

I hope all of you are contacting Ford Customer Care so they know they have a real problem.

I am not an upholstery man, but it seems as though the seat material was not pulled taut enough prior to stitching with the adjoining panels.

But then again, perhaps these hides were from "virtual cows"?

Did you post a photo of your katzkin's and I missed it? I would love to see what they look like.
+1 here. I am very interested in how the katzkin's look installed.

Obvious my problem is the same as yours, but I have a new truck right off the lot, no Ford Quality Control. I immediately contacted the Ford dealership. They plan to replace both front and back seats. My experience with Ford Customer Care was very negative. When I was having problems with my 2019 Ranger, which they eventually bought back, I contacted FCC and I thought they were lame. After being at the dealership multiple times, I asked Donna at FCC what they do to resolve my problem. She said they "contact the dealership. They do not contact any departments at Ford". So what good is Ford Customer Care? One should deal with the dealership first. Donna would never answer my emails or phone calls When I finally made a LEMON CLAIM, after on hold for 36 minutes waiting Donna, Donna "forgot" to make application resulting in 67 days as opposed to 30 in California. PS I could not drive the Ranger during that 67 day period!

Very interested to hear what you're told rdgallo.

My build date was 3/25/19. Delivery 4/12. I reported my seat issue to the dealer on 4/22 with 555 miles. Replacement of the seat covers was denied by Ford however they did authorize the dealer to use a local auto upolstery shop to refit them. They looked and felt good for a while but the issue has since returned. Today at 7,604 actually worse.
