Every morning, I start the engine and immediately notice the Radio shifted from XM to AM. Also the screen now displays Navigation. The battery is 6 months old. The voltage in the morning is 12.52 VDC. The truck has 22k miles. Any thoughts?
ICE 27 and I have the same prospective on life. You give a busy person something to do and they will get it done. In addition to inspecting your own quality work, there is a certain amount of pride regardless of how small the job may be.
COVER IT WITH SOMETHING!! We went to dinner one night. A freak store blew in with small hail stones. I noticed a couple of small dents on one rail. Brough the truck to Dent Pro. They put their special light on it ---holly sh*t. The estimate was $3300. Ford recalled the 2019 truck, little dents...
I am 82. Still change oil/filters/rotate tires, wash/wax the Ranger and the Corvette. We live on 10 acres. There is lots to do in the gardens in addition to cutting, splitting and stacking firewood. We all need to stay active and busy. If not, the Grim Reaper will be knocking at your door.
Suggestion:
Pop the hood, check the battery voltage. If it is under 12.5 VDC I would almost guarantee you need to replace the battery.
That was my problem. Dash shutdown, engine shut off when driving down the freeway. Along with other anomalies. Hard to believe, but the Ranger is VERY sensitive...
Did not real all the comments, but here are two suggestions:
1) Open the rear window, pad the lower frame with towels, insert pipes, secure rear with straps.
2) Purchase two 20 foot pipes and tie them under the truck. Laugh all you want, I have done this for years. The largest item I tied was...
No amount of engineering replaces dumb luck. Oiling the K & N filter regardless how careful you apply the oil still leaves a question in my mind " was the procedure I used absolute correct" My conclusion was NO! I found this out when the MAF sensor in my Corvette was slightly fouled causing...
Still a mystery to me. The Ford Ranger manual speaks of four switch positions: low, medium, high and off. It only illustrates three positions. I assume the lowest switch is "off". This is the position my switch is in. BUT, periodically it does it's think and cycles the blades.
No clue whats so ever. In fact, the first time it did its thing, I was in CC did not know the engine died until I noticed a loss of speed and stepped on the accelerator pedal.
Well it did it again. 55 MPH, same as before: engine dies, same info on the screen. Restarted engine--all is great. No codes in either case. Battery terminals are clean and conductive. The next day I measured the overnight resting voltage. It was 12.38 VDC. Started the engine, charging voltage...
Traveling on the freeway at 70 mph, the engine just died. Looking at the monitor it stated "turn off engine to conserve battery, then start engine". Weird, engine was already off. I coasted to the freeway shoulder, turned off the ignition, then restarted the engine. Everything was normal after...
This is true Peragrin, most cars don't have grab handles. But this truck needs one. If Ford could put it on ALL of their European models', why not USA?? All my previous trucks had one. So much easier getting in without dragging your butt across the corner of the seat. If the handle was there, it...
I too took on an oil change plus tire rotation. The first oil change was a freebee and was done at 4400 miles at the dealership. Now my turn at 10,054 miles.
I am impressed with the engineered undercarriage, very substantial and clean. Access to the oil filter is very poor. More could have been...
