For those in salted-road areas, understand that commercial car washes recycle a large portion of their water. They do run it through sediment filters (they should, at least) but that doesn’t remove dissolved salt. So, you have water with some salt content being applied under pressure to the undercarriage, which can penetrate farther than road-spray and seepage. I have used Fluid Film and New Hampshire Oil Undercoating, and both were effective. NH Oil Undercoating specifically recommends to avoid the undercarriage spray at the car wash.

After I get back from the trail I simply park over a sprinkler.

Pull the truck forward after a few minutes.

Repeat once more.

The underside looks pristine.

I use one of these type sprinklers.

If it's really muddy I'll go somewhere else first to get the thick stuff off.
Dr. Zaius just invented the truck bidet! ?

The undercarriage attachment that Dave mentioned and a gas powered power washer to up the pressure will definitely do the job! It’s the only way to get the crystallized salt and brine that they use on roads up in the North East of the country. My son and I can do all our cars in 20 minutes with this method and we’re dry ourselves when done!

In the winters, where I live, you kind of just have to accept that your vehicle is going to be totally covered in salt throughout the harsh winter months.

I just fluid film my undercarriage and wait for the spring.

So I’ve went through some sand and clay puddles the past weekend, and a few weeks before this I went through many sand puddles. Cleaning it off is such a pain an even when I wash the wheel wells and undercarriage when it gets dry it didn’t get it all. I’m literally getting a rag and laying on my back under my truck an cleaning off everything. Any better way to do this?
I usually dedicate some time on my back with a jet nozzle after a trip to Citrus or Green Swamp. I make sure to stick the hose up over the skid plates and various frame holes until the water runs clear and rinse the engine bay too if it was particularly muddy. I'll give the wheel wells a scrub with a brush and some car soap just to make the suspension shiny again, but otherwise I just blast dirt away with the hose and accept that my truck doesn't look brand new anymore!

I have never washed the under carriage. I have never heard of anyone doing this.

Never had a problem.

Only time it gets washed is when it rains or the carwash i am at has that feature.

A local brushless/touchless car wash has high power undercarriage jets that clean it as I drive over. The dirtier Horatio gets, the slower I drive over. Does a good job!

Touchless car wash with undercarriage spray. Removes salt pretty well.
That is simply not true. It stays in every corner and on top of the frame etc.pp.
if u wannna keep this underbody rustfree for several years u have to use the power washer with a curved frontend extensively every spring. Than wax everything again.
i would be happy to have only a sand problem with the underbody to ignore it…;)
