Hood Dampers ;)

So, FORD has finally decided to eliminate the hood struts all together on the 22 Rangers. Is it because they are cost cutting, or is it because they know this truck does not need any dampers??

With that being said, it appears FORD removed the anchoring plate/stud from under the hood (must have gone through the remaining parts) for the dampeners. Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket for this feature? Looks like the prop rod is here to stay, and I can only assume other new model vehicles, Maverick, 23 Rangers, etc. will probably be propped as well. Is this an opportunity to push the aftermarket hood dampeners like the tailgate?? DeeZEE hood dampeners??

Thoughts?

If my front end doesn't need a dampener...I don't need one in the rear! (That's what SHE said)

Model run out, cost cutting.

I have not seen aftermarket support yet, but in my experience hood struts are more of a universal fit than anything. Parts in terms of "fitment" are generally based on the lengths of the struts with hardware being screw in studs and such.

The struts I saw on the ranger I test drove last year, and the ones on my F150 don't look anything special..

Well that's disappointing, and if they leave them off the 23 's they better make up for it somewhere else to get me to trade ...I be curious to know Fords cost difference in rod versus struts , in the grand scheme of trucks...no chips involved here , just stuff they already had and stuff there is no shortage on ... dick move imo...

MY 2007 Dodge Nitro didn't come with hood struts but there was one mount under the hood on both sides from the factory so an enterprising young man on the Nitro forum started making the mount for the other end and found the proper struts so it worked out great.

Instead of catalytic getting ripped off it will be the hood struts instead.

It's going to take some time for the aftermarket to catch up to this but eventually someone will make them. Now off to the drawing board to design more dampers and mounts!! ?

Let the lawsuits begin , SRD injuries galore (sudden rod disengagement) people flailing around under the hood looking for the tranny dipstick and BAM! ...surprised we haven't seen any...yet...

Just design some mounts to adapt 2 tailgate dampers to the hood...
