Holes in your Ranger rocker panels?

Nice hot day here in the Central Valley (CA) so while parked in the driveway nose down I squirted water in the rocker panel holes with a syringe. Water drips out small holes at the front. Park nose up and it drip out small holes at the rear.

Also seems to be a large opening to the rocker panel area where the front fender meets the Lower door opening…easy to see when the front door is open.

I crawled under the rig and guess what I found…even more holes. Some seem to lead to the rocker panel area so I’m not sure if they are also missing plugs or if plugs were left off intentionally to facilitate drainage or airflow of some sort.

Since we know the water flush idea is gonna work, just make a Portland slurry and pump until it squirts out other side, then plug. Double benefit...no worries if plugs fall out and added weight helps truck handle better...plus don't have road chemical issues either...

What year is your truck? It just seems to be missing a few plugs?

The slotted holes on the pinch weld are drain holes.

The last photo you show is of the front fender. The rocker panel does not extend under the front fender.

I received my plugs today and installed them. They fit tight and do not overlap much. I also found two oblong holes which I already had plugs for and installed them too.

I cleaned around the holes first but I only have 1300 miles on my truck and it has not been in the rain yet. I can always pop them out later to make sure there is no crude around them.

I have to take my truck back to the dealer next week for a door latch issue. I added these to the list to let them figure it out and fix it.

2021 SuperCab XL, 7 holes each side, all open, knees undamaged. I noticed these when installing my steps, but they seem very well finished. But I didn't really check to see how much exposure there is from the other side. There are also open slots on the bottom edge of the pinch weld, so I figure they are more cosmetic than functional.

Looks like the factory plugs pictured in other posts have an "inverted belly button" design to keep water from accumulating in the back side.
