Update…

So they’re saying that my transmission warranty is no longer because I put an aftermarket metal pan on. Fuck sake another shitshow with my ranger and the dealer.

Any suggestions on how do deal with this bull?
That’s a tough break, for sure..

Sadly, there are folks on the forum who are concerned enough about transmission issues that they’re installing the PPE transmission pan on their trucks. In their efforts to avoid transmission issues, they might be voiding their transmission warranty. :(

Some are doing it because they tow, others are doing it because they would like to change fluid more often and it has a handy drain plug.

I guess, no good deed goes unpunished.

I don’t know anything about driving 90 mph on the highway, but I can tell you that, truthfully, my truck gets 61.5 miles per gallon going downhill.

Unless the pan leaked and low fluid was the issue, I'm not sure how they can make that connection ?, not in "good faith " anyway...

They can always say this, technically aftermarket parts can't be used to void a warranty unless the part causes an issue with the component under warranty

I'd try reaching out to Ford, if that doesn't work try another dealership. If you run into the same shit try a letter from a law firm, intent to sue citing magnusson moss or whatever it's called and see if that gets you some traction.

Gonna try to go to the dealer that I bought the truck from. Maybe they’ll be more helpful.

Well, I took the truck back from Ford today as they weren't going to do anything. The service manager felt 'uncomfortable' with the situation because of the damage to crossmembers and skid plate. Imo, this should have pretty much zero correlation to any sort of transmission malfunction. (Exhaust not being secured is my own dealio, lol, I was 'testing sounds.')

Any suggestions on where to go from here and who to contact? This service department refuses to do anything. Who do I need to get involved for anything to happen?

Here's the service sheet:

Seems you should speak to the shop that changed the pan and overfilled the trans. Have you tried draining the fluid down to the proper level and testing the trans operation?

Slammed on a rock, that's why all the crossmembers are bent aswell. I figured I would upgrade to a PPE metal pan and save myself the possible trouble in the future. Looks like that backfired on me though. :brokenheart:

Dropped it off there today and spoke to the shop owner. He said he would check fluid levels, but swears it was filled up to the correct amount... either way everything is on the house.

I can see where the dealer is possibly coming from in not wanting to warranty it. The OEM pan was damaged in an “accident “ ( not a warrantable failure). Repair was done at a non authorized Ford shop and was overfilled. The dealer has no way of telling if the transmission was damaged in the “accident “ and what the repair shops replacing of the pan and overfilling did to the transmission ( not a warrantable failure). It would be different if you had the dealer swap the pans as a precautionary step prior to any “accident “ damage “. Sounds like the repair shop is the source of all your issues not Ford warranty. Just my opinion and probably not what you want to hear. Hopefully the repair shop steps up for you.
