Question about oil level?

I had my 1st oil change last week at a local Ford Dealer. The "Oil Change Required" notification came on several weeks before I had the change done at 4231 miles. I assume they put in exactly 6.2 quarts because the oil level was on the line at the top of the crosshatch. The reading was taken after the truck set in the garage overnight. I am curious if you guys are getting the same level reading on your dipstick (pic. below) after you do an oil change? I will send a sample of the original oil to Blackstone for analysis and report back their findings. This dealer recommends 5000 oil change intervals which has been my standard practice.

Back on page 265, it states that the "oil consumption of new engines reaches its normal level after approximately 3000mi (5000km)."
...My interpretation is that overfilling when adding your own oil is bad, (p266) but fuel-related dilution not so much, as it is generally self correcting(p265).
My experience is that my oil level was at the full dot at 5300mi before a recent Ford Quick Lane oil change, and ~1/4" above at less than a thousand miles after; both checks after sitting overnight in a level garage. I'll check it again each thousand.

I am at 15000 miles and the level is at the max hole. Last oil change was at 10550. Oil level was measured about 2/3 up the hashed mark area (Had the dealer score the dipstick)

Your Oil Life Index is Interesting. I changed mine at 5745 mi and my OL was still 48%. I wonder if the Monitor accounts for fuel along with other contaminants and triggers the Service engine soon at some threshold? I understand its pretty comprehensive system.

Chris,
My oil life was at 0 when it was changed. I would like to know too how the oil index is calculated. I read somewhere that temperature is one factor but can't confirm that. I asked the service dept. at the oil change and they weren't sure. They thought it was determined on a time and mileage basis?

But here is the manual from the 2015 Mustang. It calls out going over the upper hole:

But the 2021 manual does not:

Wonder what changed?
Not sure what I'm missing but both images you posted specify not to add engine oil past the max mark or engine damage could result...

Yep - bad day. Trying to do more than two things at once. Multitasking was never my strong suit. I stand corrected. I was trying to show the 2021 Mustang manual does not call it out like the Ranger manual. But I would be incorrect.

I have 3500 miles since my last oil change and my oil life reads 65% !

That's good news, have you made any changes in your driving style and/or daily commute?
Nope just added the FP tune and K&N. Normal commute and one big road trip. Plenty of flooring it.

I have had two reports done. Thought I would post the results here. I am a little concerned but not alarmed at this point. I will probably use 5000 miles as my oil change interval.
