I thought I'd pass this along.

I talked with the Service Manager last week at the dealership where we bought our Ranger. He said they have not had any Rangers in for service that had the "Fuel In Oil" issue.

He did say however that they have experienced other Ford vehicles, not Rangers, that have injectors that "drain down". He said you'll notice somethings up because when you go to start the truck it will crank a bit longer than usual before it fires up.
Yeah I don't think that's the issue with mine it fires right up. I'm reading from a few other posts it seems to clear up between 10 and 12 thousand. Just noticed mine at 9100 , creeped up from full mark to the twist on the stick in 1600 miles. Don't know if it took that long or just in the last few hundred!!

Thanks for the post, wierd tho never had a vehicle do anything like this. I've had alot of cars and trucks and this is a first for me. How about a guy who doesn't watch the oil much and maybe goes 2 to 3 thousand before he even gives it a look, can't be good with all that fuel in the oil,
.

I got my oil changed at 1200 miles and was between the top hole and all most to the twist. Dealer verified level after oil change and was right at top of hash marks. Now at 1800 miles and just under the twist again. Got another visit schedule, so I will see what they say this time. Oil looks darker then the first time but does not smell like fuel as bad as the first time. Time will tell I guess. Other then this issue, I love the truck.

Yeah I really like the truck , once I get this issue straighten out. Got 9100 on mine hoping like some of these other guys are saying it will straighten out soon! If it's a ring seating issue you would think conventional oil would help .

I really hope so. Might suggest that when I go in. been driving it a little harder since the oil change, thought it might help if that was the issue. I’m just not sure what to do. Change the oil every 500 miles or just drain some out or just leave it. Guess I will see what they say.

I'll keep goin back to the dealer, their footing the bill on it , I think mine just got bad within the last oil change had about 7600 on it when I changed it then.

I installed the UPR catch can about a week ago, and after about a 600 Mile road trip this last weekend I wanted to see what it had captured, and much to my surprise it contained a few ounces of gasoline (maybe a little water, but it has been warm here in Texas and the engine never cooled down during the trip). So I then figured I should check my oil, and sure enough it reeked of gasoline. Then I went back and checked the level, and it was way overfilled! Obviously a ton of fuel in the oil. Only 1800 miles on the truck, almost entirely highway. I only take it for drives into town (about a 20 mile drive one way) and roadtrips. We have 2 beaters we drive to work each day. I took it to the dealer yesterday and no word back yet. How much extra wear do you think that could've caused the engine in that amount of time? Should I press Ford for an extended warranty on my engine? If I was like many owners and just followed the 10,000 mile oil interval without ever checking who knows how bad it could have gotten. I also wonder what caused it. My best guess would be a leaking injector, but maybe a poorly seated piston ring? I'll report back here once I get it back from the dealer.

Update: Changed my oil yesterday at ~2000 miles. Level was just slightly above the top hole on the dipstick, same as it was when I first started keeping an eye on it, though it has seemed to fluctuate slightly over time. Slight odor of fuel, but nothing extreme. I pulled a sample to send to Blackstone since I trust their analytical equipment a whole lot more than I trust my nose. Current plan (subject to change depending on the results of the UOA or a sudden increase in oil level) is to just keep monitoring it and run this oil for 4-5k miles.

Dealer changed my oil and marked the stick only about 35 miles ago, already rose about a quarter inch above their mark. Will be making a call to the dealer tomorrow no way I'll make 500 miles like they suggested!

My dealer also did an oil change at 365 miles (under warranty) and they marked the dip stick. I drove it 280 miles the next day and the oil level after that trip is still at the paint mark. I am hopeful that it remains stable at the paint mark.

I'm hoping the rings seating to the cylinder walls cures this for you guys. I started watching mine an it had the smell at around 2000 miles an it was over filled. I changed it an 2K later it is still at the level I filled it to an it has a slight fuel smell.

I didn't start having trouble till the last oil change, that was done at about 7,600 miles. I put 1600 miles on that change when I found it up to the twist on the stick! I suspect it got bad in the last couple hundred miles!
