Driving in Ontario in the snow is causing an issue with my front radar below the main grille. It gets covered in snow and the radar shuts down so no adaptive cruise and no forward collision warning. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Maybe someone has a work around??
FORD does not. My dealer says they get a lot of complaints about this. Stop and clean it off is their solution. Great engineering Henry!!

Yeah. It happens. It is worse for me in freezing rain. I wish there was a heating element on it.

So I'm planning on getting a ACC relocating bracket (from Fab 4, but I think ADD has one as well) when I put a winch on my truck... I'm wondering if the relocated position would be better protected and less prone to getting caked in snowy slush garbage.

As a side note... last winter when it happened to mine, I cleared it off by hand, but it still didn't work. Furthermore, I couldn't even use normal cruise control. I know on the in-law's Escape, they can change it to normal cruise control and just lose adaptive... What is everyone else's experience with that?

Can use regular cruise control. It's in vehicle settings via the dash. Just have to turn adaptive off. Haven't found any good work around other than to just not rely on it in the winter.

Yup, that's what I thought... mine was grayed out completely and wouldn't let me change it.

Moving it higher might help but likely not. Every make I've ever driven with this feature has had the same issue. I just switch mine to regular cruise on snow days. You'll also find that the features that rely on the windshield camera won't function when there is snow and ice built up in front of it.

Thinking more for when you get snow for a few mile stretch and drive out of it back on dry roads. Then go to use the cruise and it won't work.
No worries about when I'm on slippery roads - it stays off.

I remember seeing someone relocated the radar module to behind the grille, but I don't know that that would help much with snow.

Except that is also disables the emergency braking, which is nice to have. Also, ACC can 'see' better than I can in many situations (fog, snow, rain). The radar signals are not affected by poor visibilty. Still need to slow down, but the extra safety system is good.

Does loosing the radar disable AEB also? My XLT does not have ACC but I still have AEB, it uses the camera up by the rear view mirror. I though it used both the camera and the radar when available.

I had a 2018 Escape, the radar transmitter was behind the lower valence panel. When it snowed, the panel would get smothered with road glop and trigger a message on the display admonishing me to get out in the storm in traffic and clean off the "Camera." Fortunately it was easy to disengage with a switch on the end of the turn signal stalk and return to normal cruise.
