Ok, Amazon will be sending me a refurbished HP windows 10 laptop and an OBD link cable in the next few days.

Ready to get my feet wet.

Any recommended "intro to Forscan" videos I can watch while waiting for delivery?
Yeah, do an internet for "Forscan Video" and several will show up "Forscan 101" is maybe a good one to start with. Be sure to watch about backing up your modules and do it before you make any changes.

Definitely heard that backing up the "as built" is important a few times. I'll look for that video, thanks.

I used a friend's laptop to make my first round of changes as I don't have a windows laptop yet. I have one that should be delivered before I die (ordered Aug 10 and just finally shipped) and I am going to restore all my settings, then backup, and make my changes again. Fingers crossed I can get it restored and backed up.

I think that's included in one or more of the videos I linked above. Backing them up isn't difficult but it does take a little bit of time getting them all. A tip I'd suggest is making sure you know where the backup files are being saved (you can use default location or change it) and also make the file names something useful like BCM_original and maybe a date code in the name as well. Actually, you might not be able to use underscores (you can't use spaces) but you get the idea. I saved all mine before making a single change and had planned to save in between every revision but once I got started, I got carried away and completed my entire wishlist without stopping.

One more quick point once you log into your truck and create a profile, you can use that same profile to log in each time. The only time you need to create a new profile is if the Forscan team adds a configuration file for a module that doesn't have one. Only happened once since I've been using it. The only modules you need to backup are the ones that have "as built" in their title. Use the Configuratiion files for most changes. Much easier than editing the HEX code in the as built file. The changes will be reflected in the as built and back up that one.

All this will make more sense once you get into it.

I'm sure it will. Noted for future reference.

sorry to ask this (no I'm not) but I have searched and looked at that wikilist and either I am not searching the right terms or just blind but what module/area do I go in forscan to change the charge capacity from 70% or whatever it is to 90%?

The 'intro to forscan" that helped me the most, and I didn't backup my as built config, but I also didn't make any changes that weren't a simple on/off setting, and kept a speadsheet of the settings I changed, which was only about half dozen or so.

But, if you aren't computer savvy and confident, then do as I say, not as I do, and back up your stuff first :)

Also, I turned on bambi mode on a 2020 lariat and it worked fine, but I only tested it in my driveway, I haven't driven at night yet to test it.

What exactly is Bambi mode? High beams and fogs on at the same time?

Yes there are a few. I currently run my fogs as DRLs and also have the parking lights included. The settings are in the BCM module. There are a couple settings that need to be changed. First you need to set "Allowed DRL Options" to "All Options". Then you need to change "DRL Configuration" to the option you want. Mine is set to "Fog Lamp". If you want to add parking lamps (this includes taillights). You need to "Enable" the "Daytime Running Lights Includes Parklamps" option.

Hope this helps.

I downloaded forscan 3 days ago, trying to write the new updates and I’m getting “service interrupted“ notifications at 28% and no changes are saving. Have y’all got any pointers to fix that?
truck is a 2021 lariat.
