I have this one too - I stopped using this one because I bought the nicer one I don't have to move the switch on. I will send this to you, if you want to cover shipping. Then you can ship it back. Don't know if it saves you money, but the offer is out there. If you want to have one, I would recommend the first one I linked.

Thanks for the offer. The first one you linked is the one that's going back. It did work once and then didn't, regardless what settings or using different laptops.

Cost isn't really an issue. I just want something reliable that works.

Received it today. Works great. Was able to get an extended license and connect and read the data for the Steering Column Control Module. Now I can swap that bugger out and hopefully finish the absurdly complex salvage rebuild one of these days soon.

I have been off Windows for over 15 years since I switched to Linux. The last version of Windows I was even remotely interested in with Win 7. ForScan caused me to dig out my old Thinkpad T450S and dedicate it to ForScan and other automotive tools to service my Ford and Mazda vehicles. So I now have a dedicated Windows touchscreen laptop that perfect for this purpose.

I don't like the harvesting of my data that Windows does and have neutered Windows 10 and will not allow it to connect to the internet except on very rare occasions.

I noodled around on the ForSCAN website and couldn't find anything about system requirements. I've been on Linux since the late '90s, but I have a Lenvo laptop that is dual-boot with Win 7. In the past, the only reason I've kept the Win 7 around is for firmware updates on cameras.

I understand there's a way to run recent Windows programs through a virtualbox / VM(?), but I've never messed with that.

Would prefer to run ForSCAN natively on a Win machine if I'm messing around with my truck's software. Thoughts?

I have a Windows XP computer that runs an earlier version of Forscan. I don't know if the latest version would work on that computer. Why not download the program and try it? It's free to download and install.

I know I'll need to use a friend's machine to flash the firmware in the OBD when it arrives and if it doesn't have the latest version. Their firmware runs on Win 10+.

It doesn't have to be 64-bit.

2000 didn't offer a 64-bit version and XP's 64-bit version was largely unsupported.

Windows 7 of any flavor should be perfectly fine.

Just to clarify, x86 is the 32 bit version, x64 is the 64 bit version, so for Windows 2000 and most XP versions they would be supported since they are 32 bit. The note is just saying they don't support the ARM version of Windows.

That was a fast reply, and I appreciate it, TJC! Ya, hacking around in a $3k camera is a lot different from hacking a 30k truck. Just wanted to be sure the old Win 7 was fully supported. Yes, it's a 64bit system. Thanks!

Does anyone know how to lower the tire pressure (TPMS) in ForScan as the recommended tire pressure on my tires is 29 PSI. Can i just change the set point to around 27 psi so i quit getting the Low Tire pressure alert?

Now Unknown if this just changes the (Display-Rec Tire Press) If you have it Enabled to display on the Tire Press Screen or will it reprogram the Low Press Warning (with this change)

So, to break it down 23 = Front Tire Press & 23 = Rear Tire Press
So, if you wanted to split the Press between Front & Rear, then change it to (Ex: 1E23) for the Front @ 30 PSI and the Rear @ 35 PSI

xxxx-1D1D-xxxx = 29 PSI --- 1C!C = 28 PSI --- 1B1B = 27 PSI

So, you change this line to whatever you want in (Hex) to match its decimal conversion.

Again, this is untested if this actually reprograms the Low Tire Press Warning or is this just a Placard Text on the Menu.

You don't need to use the hex edit for the TPMS expected pressure, it exists in the GUI settings. I changed mine a long time ago. It does not impact the low-pressure warning threshold however AFAIK.

Thats not what he wants - as I have also added the display (Recommended Press) in the menu.
He wants the Low Press Warning to be different.

That GUI for the display is in the IPC not the BCM, this is a different setting, and that was to Enable or Disable the display in the menu.
