Hi all, glad to see all the information on this truck that's available in this forum, in particular this Forscan thread. I wanted to post on an issue I encountered while trying to get this working; might be in here somewhere but I wasn't finding it.

I had an OBDLink LX that I've been using for a while with my motorcycle. I tried getting it going with my Ranger and Forscan, and I was able to interface with a number of the modules, but wasn't seeing what I was looking for. Turns out, even though Forscan indicates the OBDLink LX is supported, the LX does not support MS-CAN and therefore cannot access all the modules. I didn't see this explicitly in any of my searches, so maybe I missed it. I purchased the OBDLink EX and I've had no issues.

Cheers!

I just ordered my OBD2 adapter so thanks for the info here!

I did have a question about the rear cargo/bed lights near the 3rd brake light, is it possible to have that stay on without mph limit? Or at least increase it?

I have some other questions but will be trying to find it on youtube or searching here lol first time ever using FORScan

That would be illegal to have rear facing white lights on continuously while driving.

The intended use would be on trails so maybe even if it was kicked up to a higher MPH was why I was asking. That said, I also switched them to yellow LED bulbs.

Yellow is not legal either to have on continuously. Yellow can only be used for turn signals at the rear end.

That's not true. These are state-level laws and most states allow both red and amber rear facing lighting on the road.

That was not my question and besides that, I am looking to use them in off-road use. Stay out of the lighting forum, there are plenty there with rear mounted LED lights much brighter than the ones near the 3rd brake light.

Rear facing yellow is only allowed for the turn signals or emergency flashers. They can't be on continuously.

What I was trying to point out is that Ford has them set up to turn off when the vehicle is moving because it is not legal to have them on when moving on-road. You could re-wire them with your own switch.

I understand that, I am hoping they left a setting in there to increase the mph or just disable it for off hwy use. It is hard for me to tell but think they turn off around 5-10mph.

I kinda compare this to traction control never being fully off. If I want to do something stupid in my own vehicle let me, natural selection could happen. If someone wants to drive with a yellow light facing backwards, let them get a ticket. That said, I do want it for off-road use.

What are you arguing here? He said it was for off road use.
I had the unpleasant experience to drive behind a pickup truck that had rear facing white lights that he forgot to turn off. They were blinding. My point is that Ford programmed it so that can't happen. The OP wants to defeat that feature.

I went through the BCM - As-Builts and do not see any setting for changing / altering the Cargo Lights (Timeout) when above 3-MPH

The only Hex Line is this:
IDK what this will do if changed, it may or may not work for what you want
So, this will be a test (if it works or not)

BCM: 726-57-01 - Bed Lamp Configure
xxxx-xxx1-xxxx
Note the factory is set to (0)
0=Disabled
1=Enabled

All Trims have this for that Hex-Line (0300-0100-0089)
This may be for Bed Lighting as I found nothing for Cargo Lighting, so this may be for Factory Bed Lighting (Enable/Disable)
