I don't know, there is no temperature gauge. Seems to run fine, just makes oil. Only about 1800 miles on the oil.

There's no temp gauge on the Ranger? I wasn't aware of this. You must barely accelerate when you drive to circulate the oil.

In the current world climate, that could be extremely valuable. - Sorry I shouldn't make jokes at your expense. In truth though oil dilution seems to be an on-going issue for most petrol direct injection engines to some extent.

Only time the turbo kicks in is when I'm towing something. Gets up to 55 easily without much throttle. I drive like the old man I am. There should be oil pressure all the time except for when ASS kicks in.

On an EcoBoost engine, the turbo is active at idle and all the way up to the ignition cutoff.
It is a twin scroll design, where the low speed scroll (turbo) is providing boost from idle up to about 1800 rpm, where the larger scroll starts applying boost the rest of the range.
Not much different in concept from an old school Holley 4bbl; the throttle linkage would open the smaller front throttle plates first, until the accelerator pedal was pushed to a point, then the larger back ones would open.
Either way, the more you drive with a balloon foot, the better your economy

"No longer" was it ever? My current Ford - the Ranger, is probably the least troublesome of all the long string of Fords I have owned. For a start at 10 years old it's the first which actually hasn't rusted out somewhere, or shed bits of trim, and doesn't leak. I accepted these annoyances because the engines and powertrains were always reliable and strong. If as it seems that even that no longer applies....

My 2020 Ranger is the most trouble-free vehicle I've ever owned, surpassing my 1985 Mustang.
At least in the U.S. though, Ford has had a lot of recalls in the last few years across the board in all vehicles. Quality on everything everywhere sort of nosedived after Covid.
