11 months. I usually go a year and have never run out of oil life before. I'm looking for something with a V8 next.

Reset it so it thinks you've changed the oil. Should solve the problem. Ford doesn't have oil sensors that measure for oil issues, it's strictly a time based notification. Like you, I also drive low miles annually and even after 2K miles of local use after an oil change over the course of a year, it will start prompting me to change the oil. Your oil is fine.

HPFP ??? Mine was bad on my 2022. Putting fuel in the oil. How much is it over on the dipstick?

Only about a quarter inch. It smells like gas. I was told don't worry about it, all these little turbo engines do it. Never got an email like this before though.

I was wondering if the level going up may have triggered a sensor. Gonna try and get it changed asap because the level is overfilled and it stinks like gas. Trouble is, it can take 6 weeks to get an appointment.

Let's break this down.

1. Does it drive any differently (from an engine and acceleration perspective?
2. When it's running, does any smoke come from the exhaust that's not normal?
3. Do you feel that it blew an oil ring (on the piston) as where else would gas enter the engine block?
4. What color is the oil?...How's the viscosity look - watery, more like oil, etc?
5. You mentioned it smelled like gas....Do you have a point of comparison?

Common causes, in order of likelihood:

1. The oil life monitor was never resetafter the last oil change.
   • This is the most common reason.
   • The system doesn’t measure the oil directly; it estimates oil life based on operating conditions. If it wasn’t reset, it continues counting from before the oil change.
2. The oil life monitor was reset incorrectly or not completely.
   • A partial or failed reset can leave the previous value intact.
3. Time-based maintenance.
   • If it’s been about a year since the last reset, some Ford models will remind you based on elapsed time as well as mileage.
4. Very severe driving conditions.
   • Frequent short trips, extended idling, towing, or dusty conditions can reduce calculated oil life faster, but reaching 0% in only 2,000 miles would still be uncommon.
5. Software or instrument cluster issue.
   • This is much less common.

If you know the oil was changed recently:

• Verify the oil level on the dipstick.
• Check your service receipt to confirm the date and mileage.
• If everything checks out, simply reset the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor. If the message returns shortly afterward, the dealer should inspect the system.

The key detail is:

• 2,000 miles since the oil change does not automatically mean the oil actually needs replacing. In most cases, it means the oil life monitor wasn’t reset after the previous service.

How many years/miles on the truck. How many miles on the oil? This sounds like the same exact scenario I went through.

4 years 1 months old and 8,300 miles less then 2000 since the last change.

The dipstick is not a linear measurement, a quarter inch may only be a few ounces over. Have whomever changes the oil measure how much comes out including the filter, and check that the oil life monitor is reset.Don't hesitate to take it to an independent shop, it's just an oil change I've used a local rapid oil change a few times without any problem when I can't get a convenient appointment at my Ford dealer; $!8 less and they vacuum the interior! Unless you have non-standard tires, your tires are overinflated. My dealer always does that. I check the psi after the truck sits when I get home and voila, tires are cold to the touch and they are 8-10psi high.

I had a similar experience with the first service on my Triumph motorcycle. The oil was way above the full line, looked like almost an extra liter when I checked it at home afters sitting overnight. The bike has a dipstick rather than a site glass like most Japanese bikes. I siphoned out successive small quantities (took an hour) until I got the level down to the full line. Less than 170cc, or ~ 5 1/2 oz over.

So a 1/4” high with less than 2000 miles on the oil? Did you do the oil change or did the dealer? I just went through this with my 2022. Had to convince the dealer to look at it. But when they did Ford told them to change the oil and “seal” the engine. Then I had to put 1000 miles on it and bring it back to have them confirm that the oil level had risen. It definitely had risen so they changed the HPFP and it was covered under the 5/60 powertrain warranty. That solved the oil/fuel issue. So if the dealer did the oil change then bring it in to them to show that the oil level has risen before you change the oil.

Mine was around 1/8” plus over and it tested at 8% fuel which equates to around 14 oz.
