When you update your tune, do you connect a battery charger and if you do, are you doing it right?

I never hooked up a battery charger if your battery has enough juice in it you should be fine also the process didn't take all that long to do.

I did the first time but when I installed the update I skipped it. I would make sure I drove it recently just to be sure the battery is up.

EDITED: The tuning process doesnā€™t take long. 15 minutes or so.

Driving for 15 minutes will not necessarily charge the battery at all. The Body Control Module charges the battery only when it is economical to do so. This is why charging a battery using the negative battery post will trick the BMS into sending inaccurate information to the BCM. I am thinking that you could unplug the BMS while charging, but I'm not sure I'd want to try that while doing a tune update.

No, I meant the tuning process takes about 15 minutes. Not drive it for 15 minutes. Sorry for the confusion.

Agreed, my first install saving the stock tune to the PROCAL took over 20 minutes. It was worth buying a $20 tender...ya donā€™t want that process interrupted!

So, like others, I noticed that there is a mount. Does the tablet/pad that comes with this have to stay connected and thus a mount is needed?

No you donā€™t need it to be connected after tuning.

Nope, no need, if there was some info like boost gauge, air fuel ratio or the like Iā€™d keep it on. Iā€™d rather not attract attention and am not inclined to run that cord through the dash or vents.

Why pay for ford tunes rather then tunes from a company like livernois, or 5 star? Just for warranty reasons?

Mine is exactly the same as yours and I have a 2020. Maybe thatā€™s it? Havenā€™t driven yet. Just flashed it and now going to bed lol

Really considering the FPP tune as opposed to Livernois. Have you guys noticed an improvement with downshifts as well?
