Factory auto start-stop delete?

Still waiting for my Ranger. It's 'In Production' status as of 4/5/2022. But as I was looking over my window sticker, I noticed there is a line item on there for 'AUTO STOP-START REMOVAL' and there's a '-$50.00' fee for it. Have others seen this? I didn't know this was an option. I assume it's because I ordered the towing package?

I had been researching the best way to disable the auto-stop start on it when it arrives. Guess I won't have to get an add-on now. Thanks Ford.

I have a 2019 with the towing package and the auto-start disable.

I bought the Auto Start Stop Eliminator plug-in for my truck right after I bought it.
Just could'nt be bothered with having to remember to deactivate it every time I got in the truck.
Not really a lot of coin, considering it would make my life that much easier.
Did it myself, its kinda tight under the center console cover, but I managed. Set it and forget it.
Not even a thought everytime I get into the truck.
I read a couple articles, these start stop- installs were/are the manufacturers way of stroking the feds into showing they're doing something to help fuel economy. The benefit is negligible if non-existent .

This was on the news the other day. The Auto Start/Stop chip was specifically mentioned as one of (if not the most) backlogged chips. We should all sell ours back to Ford for a pretty penny.

My dealer told me about this on an F150 I order last week. I think it’s a good item to delete to keep the trucks rolling. Now that I know it’s an option I’m deleting it across the board.

Sorry for the delay! When I first bought the truck the start stop feature was annoying so I bought one of the eliminator devices and installed it. I removed it after I got a oil change at the dealership since I was getting several error messages and auto stop start was one of them.

Before I returned the truck to them to investigate the errors I removed the device so they couldn’t say it was my eliminator that caused the problem and in the end they forgot to reconnect a sensor of some type on the air filter assembly. I never got around to re installing it since it wasn’t activating anyway which I assumed was because it was cold and figured the cabin didn’t get warm enough to activate.

Now I know that since I don’t drive it very often the battery never gets fully recharged. I do on occasion hookup my 4 amp hour charger. I’m considering getting one of the Super Capacitor battery jump starters to keep in the truck… jus in case.

As others have indicated, depending on how and where you drive, the increase in MPG can be substantial (others have posted seeing +2 mpg and I agree). If you aren't sitting at busy intersection lights a fair amount, you likely won't see the +2 mpg.

I'd gladly take the $50 credit to have no Start/Stop feature. I hated that BS annoyance system since they got implemented in the early 2010s

You know, you might be right about the Ranger and its fuel burn at idle and what the likely impact might be on MPG, certainly for the average driver. As far as the 6 hours per tank, frankly I think that might be possible, depending on where you live. .

I used to live in the San Francisco Bay Area and honestly, when you stack up a bunch of busy 3 way intersections on a very stop and go daily commute, you probably wouldn't have to go very far in an actual commute miles to get those kind of results per tank. I haven't lived in that kind of place for a long time (definitely pre ASS times) and the +2 MPG I quoted are from what friends I have that still live there tell me they get. But they aren't Ranger specific, frankly none are late model Rangers, so you are probably right.

Where I live and the average driving profile I have, ASS is definitely more of an annoyance, than anything else.

The heated seats in cold climates are priceless. Even here in the Carolinas, we have many 30 degree mornings....

Hell, I use it often in these chilly low-50s mornings in Santa Barbara (I wear shorts year-round though).

Same here George to both the heated seats and wearing shorts year round. Matter of fact I had my heated seats on yesterday and it was 90 out. It helps when my back is sore which is often lately.

It’s related to chip shortages. Other missing features (as an example: heated seats) also net $50 off the price, even if it’s a $500 feature.
