So civil liberties are completely dead in the EU now? I could see constitutional challenges to something like this in the USA.
With what new york and cali are doing now with guns yes there absolutely will be challenges and laws will likely get struck down but our lovely dystopian regime states will just find a way to keep shirking the rulings as long as you live in a state that isnt a dystopian hellhole you should be ok for now at least...

At least until the Constitution is ruled to be null and void because it's outdated.

George Orwell was amazingly prescient with this comment from 1984:

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute.

“History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”

This is going to be similar to auto stop-start. Just push a button and the limiter goes away, but will be on by default.

you cant say that.
there was an instance in Canada, where the translator was helping students pass simply because of their heritage, not because of their skillset.

https://bc.ctvnews.ca/translator-charged-with-helping-hundreds-cheat-on-driving-test-1.4305948

other instances:

https://www.canadianunderwriter.ca/...n-on-fraudulent-license-operation-1000013153/

https://www.insurance-canada.ca/2004/03/08/icbc-and-police-crack-down-on-driver-licensing-fraud/

the system isn't perfect and there's gaps that allow people to take advantage.
every time they fix one, another way to circumvent the system appears.

since driving is a priveledge and not a right, none of our constitution claims will ever hold up.
when you accept your licence you are essentially in a contract to follow the laws and rules of the road. speeding is one of them obviously.
break that law, you get fined, break it enough you lose your licence.
since so few have any regard for this, the legislators do what legislators do...and make up new shit. In this case, technology to ensure you follow set speed limits is coming whether we cry about our rights or not.
Canada and america are two different things, in america you have a right to privacy protection from self incrimination as well as due process and the right to face your accuser, I can't speak for canada only florida, thats a canada problem I don't remember anything like that happening stateside

It is unfortunate that many of our politicians mistook 1984 as a user manual.

As Barney said, "You give 'em 30, they'll take 35". I guess the good old EU decided to stop that.:)

Like others I'm guessing we'll see this in the USA one day. Our politicians do not like to be outdone by "stupid". They think they have a patent on it........................

Ha. Yeah. The state that'll give you a 1200$ fine for having a joint and fine you for riding your snowmobile across a lake too fast ?

NH can get bent.

Actually, Canada and the U.S. are very similar when it comes to the whole rights and freedoms, due process, self-incrimination thing. We both also have Supreme Courts to decide when governments step on those rights. So far, speed limit, helmet, insurance, registration, and seat belt laws have stood the test of reasonable infringement. Something like this likely would too.

Unfortunately, we’re also very similar when it comes to not being able to completely trust motor vehicle license testing…here is just a snippet of similar antics stateside.
