I'm not worrying at all...solar is great, but here, like many places, everyone wants a solar farm, as long as it's somewhere NOT around their home.
I figure I'll be 6 feet under by the time everyone comes to their senses and does what needs to be done.
I hope you live to see that day.

I would hope so, but I'm in my 70's...hoping my kids and grandkids will benefit from it.

There's a solar farm not far from where I live. It was completely destroyed by orange sized hail several years ago. In fact, most of the city had hail damage. 100s of homes needed roof repair.

It's up and running now.

If you ever accomplish this and succeed at it, I'd love to see Doug Demuro do a You Tube review on it.

It’s not that complicated … theoretically. However I will have to do it without any OEM inside knowledge, trial and error. I write software like MS or Linux community does, however it is used is of course classified to me.

I am pretty sure the new V6 Raptors will have such an unit too for Baja mode. It will not be exhaust cutouts, you simply cannot tune so much from it.

Maybe Bronco Raptors could contradict me …

I would look at what you have already with Forscan. The fake engine noise might be there already but not used. That wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Alternatively, do an extensive search of the net. Someone out there has done this for sure. Could save yourself a ton of work capitalizing on what you find. Especially with what EV are doing in this realm it just makes sense it’s already out there.

I did that already. Anyway it will not help me as I’ve already flattened the EQ for my aftermarket sound system. I have a thread on that build. Thanks!

Hmmm, this reminds me of ski boats with speakers mounted on their roll bar arches - of course, the music is blasted at max volume so the skier/tuber and everyone on the beach can hear their crappy selection.

If you do this, please be gentle with the volume….and the bass. ?
Amplified dual fart cans??

EVs are really dangerous for pedestrians in low speed situations, one cannot hear them coming from behind. They will make noise otherwise it will be carnage.
I've heard this concern, but the ONLY place I've seen it implemented is EV classes at hillclimb events where spectators can access the track.

There is literally no lawful condition in the US where an EV would be approaching a pedestrain from behind on the same path in public.

9) I will go through a ton of iterations to get it right ;).

10) I will probably fail many times :(.
Exactly. Bill yourself for your time and the juice is not worth the squeeze.

Maserati is charging 4000$
So if they're charging $4k for a replacement, how much R&D time/money have they got into it? All that and as the video said "the speakers fail."

You think you'll come up with something more reliable than that?

<snip> I can buy off the shelf systems like Maxhaust that connect to the OBD port to read the RPM, yet I want to build one myself with an arduino, an amplifier and a ported box speaker enclosure.

I need a simple way to read RPM without CAN decoding or … to read the throttle, and I am looking for ideas.

The pedal is a potentiometer, I guess I can read the voltage or resistance, either would work. Any thoughts in this?
Why don't you want to use CAN? Seeed Studio offers a CAN Bus Development Kit which is basically a CAN Bus Shield with the Arduino built-in. Especially if you are only grabbing one message, the decoding shouldn't be that big of a hurdle.
The basics:
https://www.seeedstudio.com/blog/2019/11/27/introduction-to-can-bus-and-how-to-use-it-with-arduino/
The actual device: ($17.90)
https://www.seeedstudio.com/CANBed-FD-Arduino-CAN-FD-Development-Kit-p-4724.html

You should also think about how engine tone changes with load. Full throttle at high rpm doesn't sound like a speeded up version of idle. You may want to select the "Engine Load" value to select tone settings, (or aternate samples), and "Engine RPM" to control frequency. Not sure if the Load message is placed on the bus, but that's the fun part of the project, right?

To do it completely analog, you will probably want to use a high impedance op-amp to sense your selected transducers to avoid loading effects on the sensor and affecting the calibration of the ECM input circuits.

We will ALL move to EVs sooner or later. VAG is bound to slash all combustion engines in 2035. EVs are really dangerous for pedestrians in low speed situations, one cannot hear them coming from behind. They will make noise otherwise it will be carnage. Anyway, I know this for a fact :).
I seriously doubt we will ALL move to EV's. The movement is bound to fail. Unless, maybe, just maybe if we move toward nuclear energy. I know that for a fact.

except the Walmart parking lot.

much to the disappointment of a few people on here a few weeks back, i dodged the big one at my local Walmart.
i was walking to the door, when a small car wanted to back out.
he stopped about 2 feet out of the slot so that i could pass by....or at least i thought he was stopping for me.
unbeknownst to me a Tesla was rolling up behind me, so when i side stepped the stopped car, the tesla nearly took out my heels. and didnt even slow down for me, or the car.
Watch where you're walking? And the Tesla owner should watch where they're driving.

Accident on private property. Sounds like the reason they made small claims courts.

There's no reason for us to have to listen to hundreds of these driving down the road just because a few people can't take care of themselves.

I'm feeling old now too. Friday beers it is.
