Perhaps it would have been easier for you to see and understand when you were there during the install. Most people who give good reviews are happy with the extended range. Chances are they did not do the install themselves.
The video that shows the install has at least two instances of the installer commenting on different parts that he substituted in for what came with the package, so that's an indicator to me that the product needs some fine-tuning, or that the fine-tuning in question is happening by people who install these units regularly.

I would opt for a tall & thin style tank that would sit at the very back bed wall. I would then rig a pumping system to fill the main tank via the gas cap. I wouldn't plumb anything directly. Like I said, yes I would have to stop and get out to transfer gas, but if I am on a long trip its a good excuse to get out and stretch anyhow.

Im still researching a fuel pump / nozzle combo. Kind of like my own mini gas station in back of bed.
Think one of these with the right sized jacketed lines would stow out of the way nicely. Could power it from the aux 12V bed connector or into a panel connection. https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/group.asp?GroupID=FACET12CYLIN

The only issue I see with this is you take up bed space with that. Hence the reason why a replacement tank is put into place.

Also on the price do remember that this is going to be a quality part from Australia that was designed and built by people who make a good living wage. It is also a useful part for those looking for a longer range all together. These are points that most dont think to look at. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Well bed space isn't a concern directly for me (but I understand) as I have vastly more onboard storage capacity than most.

Jumping in on this thread. Have been looking pretty hard at an APG ProRunner build with a GFC but the micro fuel tank has been making this a non-starter. Every year I end up doing a couple drives where I push 200 miles without passing an open fuel station. I'm sure this is hard to imagine for some but there are still some really big gaps in fuel stations in the lower 48. Forget about Baja or norther Canada. So stoked to see this coming together and all the support for the Ranger.

So the fuel tank is not installed yet because it's not Friday yet. If anything I do have some updates to this. One thing that was brought up by a few others including Phil was the tank straps. The tank straps will not be used with a new tank because it has built-in mounts on the tank. That is one thing taken care of on this.

Now you guys are wondering how much does this tank weigh? It weighs 90 lb without any parts installed on it whatsoever.

Now you're wondering is this safe to run on the road? Absolutely it is. I will find out the specific rating Australia uses as it happens to be much higher standards then the US DOT ratings.

I also got to look inside the tank real quick and there are baffles ans a little sump to help keep the fuel pump from starving.

Last but not least, there is no skid plate for this. Now a lot of you may have just been turned off from this but unless you are trying to go over obstacles that you shouldn't be going over then you should be fine.

And if you're that concerned about a skid plate for this application, and the tank being steel won't work for you, you're already spending $2K on the new tank. Drop another couple hundred on a custom skid.

Clearly you haven't priced a custom skid plate in a while :)

Also that just makes it hang that much lower (it already hangs below the frame quite a bit from the pictures we've been shown)

That is only a possibility. Remember the pictures you have seen is from a diesel Ranger out of Australia

Time will tell, I know I could use another 200 miles of range while towing... 18 gallons is criminal at ~10mpg
