"***ANNOUNCEMENT***

Just released: Olive Oyl Industries in partnership with Zee Dee Products, announces pre-production electro-mechanical device to work in conjunction with the "It's Too Heavy" tailgate damper system - the "I can't Raise My Leg" tailgate escalator.

Ford Motor Company is said to be considering the product as an add-on via their Ford Performance shop. The Tailgate Escalator will carry individual from road level to truck bed, thus avoiding unnecessary step on bumper/tailgate proper to enter bed."

......It's about the CONVENIENCE of a one pull on the release and your hands are free to deal with the load you're going to put in the bed! .....
OK, the quote above is worthy of a thread all it's own. Kind of like a "caption the picture" thread.

I'll go first....... "That's what she said"

I owned a 92 F250 that tailgate was HEAVY, didn't need one then but I was much younger. Now that that I am older and the Ranger tailgate is light don't need one now.
So I say no damper

Maybe I am wrong, which my wife frequently assures me, but the damper doesn't make the tailgate lighter on the way up. Instead it only slows the tailgate on the way down.
Might point exactly. Did not need one then to slow down a heavy one, do not need one now to slow down a light one.

I gotta say.... Having a 'tailgate-slow-down-thingy' can be a danger for others....

Can't tell ya how many times I've dropped other guys gates cuz I'm so used to having one on my truck.....

"$4!% sorry man.... didn't mean to drop it like that...."

So true. It actually increases the force required to close the tailgate.... for those looking for facts instead of opinions.

Highly possible that my “girly” arms are stronger than yours by your “girly” comment.
Before I had my ah, er, damper installed, I was having muscle imbalance issues.

Now that I have a damper, I'm back to normal.

As one that has not quite yet fallen under the spell of @AzScorpion and his Damper Mind Tricks, I have to ask if there's a noticeable difference in the force needed to CLOSE the tailgate (asking for my wife, of course...). :)
