I can't believe I spent all that time reading thru all 9 pages of this thread. But, I actually enjoyed it. It gave me some laughs.

I haven't done all that many mods to my ranger. It has become quite the garage queen with only just over 7K miles in a little over 21 & 1/2 months. My most expensive mod was to get it ceramic coated. My first, and probably cheapest was a smaller antenna. My mod to disable the auto Stop/Start probably the biggest PITA to install but well worth it. And, YES, the damper is worth it as well. I haven't seen the wear on the support cable, but I haven't looked for it. I guess I take a look tomorrow if I think of.

Keep up the thread, I look forward to more pseudo bickering.
Hi Bob,

Being Science based, I decided to debunk this damper HP increase. So I did 5 test runs 0 to 60 on the stop watch. Then installed the Damper and repeated the process. It was clear that the damper reduced the the times by 0.0000001 second....Clearly a benefit. Indirectly, I noticed that my fuel economy improved by about a teaspoon per tank fill up!

Best,

It was a toss up...since a tune and a damper give you the same increase in HP I decided to spend the extra few dollars and order a tune. No wrenching involved to install either.
Some of us like the calluses on our hands from installing the damper. It helps offset the skinny arms. ?

Awesome! Now @Texasota has a place to go for his damper fix. If your Ranger is afraid of dampers, its best to slowly introduce them. Purchase the damper and set it near your Ranger; garage, bench, driveway. This way the damper will get used to the damper being nearby. Next keep the damper with you in the cab. Don't try this too soon as your truck may act up by throwing a CEL. If that happens go back to step one, wait a couple days and try again. 3rd step is to put the damper, still in the box, in the bed of the truck. These 3 steps should be able to take place over a week. Next install the damper. Hopefully you don't experience damper rejection as Aragorn did in this tread .
If you do, don't worry, we are here to help.
KJRR is now known as Dr. Damper around these parts! Or is that mods? ?
