Agree, all this about something I never even noticed until it was brought up here. My '19 is lit but who cares, not me. And I came from a 2011 XLT with a 5sp. Can’t believe the hoopla about it.

These low power light pipe assemblies from Tyco may work and would forgo the need for an expensive dimmer. Still need a transparent sheet to get the color you want, and trim the length of the pipe down.

Going to have to dig in Forscan for how to enable ambient lighting. Wiring is there in the doors, but the leads are always on. I had an LED hooked up for over an hour and it never shut off. If you lock the doors the circuit is off though and is ground switched (positive lead always hot).

I have a feeling the light is part of the Bezel (part #7D433). If you search for 2020-2021 its a valid part but not for 2019 and no such part even shows up. The part is valid from 7/2020 and up. Makes me think the part is not even made anymore or available and most likely get replaced with a non-lit version.

For some weird reason, the other night I looked at my shifter and noticed that my PRNDS is backlit, but no indicator as to the gear. Build date in sig. ?‍

I trailer my pontoon, and making sure you are in R or D, is critical on a boat ramp... The steering wheel is always blocking the dash cluster, so the gear indicator on the shift is sorely missed. Never had a vehicle that did NOT indicate the current gear on the shifter. It's not a "get used to it" for me. Add the 6 inches of height for the prop on the hood and it's not like my 1993 4.0, I had for 25 years.

If "get use to it" won't work for you, then you have one choice. Trade it quick while prices are still good. Oh, and put it on the must have list for your next truck.

P.S. I'd like to see how your cluster is always blocked too. That would bother me more than the shifter indicator.

Maybe an adjustment to the tilt of the wheel is needed.

This thread brings back the memories. My first car was a '66 Fairlane 2 Door Sedan (post), C-code 289 with a C4 Column shift. Remember plenty of GTA Fairlanes, Galaxies and Mercurys with the full consoles. P-R-N-D-2-1 were individually lit (console) as I recall.
