Battery Replacement Recommendations

I had an OE factory Motorcraft battery fully die and strand me with little warning on my 02 4.6L Mountaineer, it was at the 8 year mark. Not interested in repeating that ever again ? I'm approaching the 5-year age mark next March on my 19 Ranger and I like to replace my battery around that time ahead of schedule.

What AGM, or better, battery do ya'll recommend either as a stock replacement or an upgrade? I have a Lariat with the bigger size AGM stock. I'd honestly be fine going with Duracell AGM or even Duralast/Diehard Platinum AGM but I'm curious what you all think.

I used the everstart platinum for my Lariat, sold by Walmart with a 4 year warranty.

For best warranty I would recommend getting a Motocraft battery since it has a 100 month warranty. The first 36 months are free replacement. After that it is a prorated warranty.

If that doesn't suit your fancy I would spend the extra and get a X2 from Batteries Plus

Doesn't disconnecting a battery even for a short period of time mess up the electronics of the Ford Ranger? That is the reason I will have the dealer replace mine with a Motorcraft battery, they know how to reprogram the system --I don't

All you have to do is rest the battery monitor

I replaced my battery with an AutoZone H7 AGM. Did not lose preset radio or SiriusXM stations. Did lose the tire pressure monitor reading but they reset after less than a mile of driving. Reset the memory of the one touch driver side window.

Yikes no thanks. You get what you pay for, and Amazon knockoff brands have been nothing but junk to me.

You get that warranty as long as it is stated on the battery. I have seen that only on Motocraft batteries. That said it could have changed recently for who knows what reason. Also the factory battery is only covered through the 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty(and Factory extended warranty)

100 month warranty is a big deal. With our trucks it'd be free replacements for life seeing how long they (don't) last.

Be sure to get the correct model for your truck build - my Lariat with all the accessories was different than the one for an XL. If I understand correctly the battery management system is designed around the AGM format.

Since batteries are a wear item I get that reliability is a top priority so service was a big deal. I went to my Costco and they didn't have the appropriate model, so down the road at Sam's Club I went.

Costco doesn't install the batteries but Sam's does so I didn't have to go back for the core charge.

I can't justify the high cost of some of the batteries although my use is not as extreme as others.

Interstate is the only battery I trust. As a retired auto tech they have been the most reliable that I've seen. YMMV

Yes I grew up thinking Interstate, and Optima, was high-end. I must admit 15-20 years later I'm not sure that to be true anymore. That's why I'm asking!

Interstate in general is good, but I wouldn't say the best

if you are near a city that has one, battery specialty shops have always been very good to me. Our long time favorite retired but the replacement is just as good/ the people who have a shop that only sells batteries usually know their stuff and have low priced less heard of brands that last as long or longer than the more expensive ones.
