I recall some very specific pairing instructions or else it doesn’t work at all. Better to just hard wire it in, even if only using the factory wires under the dash.I tried the Curt and it would not work right. I sent for another and it didn't work either. Two bad devices from the manufacturer so I gave up.
for install (3hrs labor) in Petaluma (northern CA). I guess I'll have to call around or road trip to southern CA where people here have been quoting $180 or less for the install
I think if you order the controller at Fordparts.com you can select install as you order and it pops up as $145 labor and have it shipped to the dealer you want to install. My dealer in Palm Springs bauked At the install price but had to honor it, took 3.5 hrsI was just quoted $330 for the Ford TBC and a whopping $600for install (3hrs labor) in Petaluma (northern CA). Gotta take half the interior apart, it’s absolute nonsense and an epic fail from engineering. That labor quite seems absolutely crazy.
Local dealer to me is asking $288 for the TBC right now.
Yeah, but 3 hours... At $200/hour?! That's highway robbery.Gotta take half the interior apart, it’s absolute nonsense and an epic fail from engineering.
I called a couple others and nearby in Santa Rosa they quoted $285 so, yeah, not sure what the Petaluma place is smoking. That labor quite seems absolutely crazy.

That seems *significantly* better. I'd personally stay far away from that place. Best of luck finding a good place to get it done! I don't tow enough to where I need one yet, but it's on my list.I called a couple others and nearby in Santa Rosa they quoted $285 so, yeah, not sure what the Petaluma place is smoking.
YeahWas that at a Ford dealership?
Grumpy Old Ranger Guy, do you know if the Forward Collision Warning Assist and Automated Emergency Braking systems work using the Echo?I use a Curt Echo wireless trailer brake controller for my camper trailer and love it, no installation, no holes in dash. Connects to phone by blue tooth, love the fact i can use it on any truck with a 7 pin.
