i mean if you got the will and way go for it! id like to see how it turns out. just my 2 cents- the 7.3 is an anchor in terms of weight. why not do a 2.7 or 3.5 with the turbo and at least similar modern goodies making it easier. plus with the 2.7 offered in the bronco and bronco and ranger sharing a lot of parts it would make it much easier to swap in.

It's definitely less wide and tall than a 5.0 but a tad longer. Weighs about 200 lbs more, so you'll definitely need that suspension, but there may be other ways you save weight once you remove all items for a turbocharged engine. I think the biggest concern would be the length overall, but if ford can shove it into a mustang I bet it fits in there. Not to mention all those tacos you leave in the dust will increase your premium.

Not sure how you figure the 10R80 would work. The transmission sitting behind the 7.3 is a 10R140, different trans altogether, not just a beefed-up 10R80.

IIRC Ford's Modular transmissions will bolt up to the 7.3l. So in theory the Mustang or F150's 10R80 should bolt up , the Ranger's definitely would not. The 10r80's bellhousings are integrated into the case so it's not something that could be overcome with a bellhousing swap.

If this were a project someone was serious about undertaking, my suggestion would be sell your truck and buy a salvage title "19+ Ranger, and a complete 7.3L engine, trans liftout from the super duty or the van, and hack away to your hearts content. But, IMHO It makes absolutely no sense to tear into a completely functional 1 year old truck for a project like this. Unless you are writing this off as a tax deduction for a shop truck or a content creation vehicle.

i once gutted some guy’s brand new Mach 1 and turned it into a turbo street/drag car. It makes perfect sense to someone who is going to get enjoyment out of it. I’m

First response that I can actually appreciate. I’m going to start it at some point and then just daily my f150. The goal is to do a 7.3 swap and 3.0 bypass setup for the ultimate little prerunner build.
Love the idea Gabe, Go for it and dont look back. The godzilla is one hell of an engine

If 87stang616 completed a solid axle front swap, I don’t see any issues doing a motor swap. Anything can be accomplished if you put your mind to it. Good luck!

Step 1: Tape measure
thoughts: hmmm, radiator needs to come out a foot but doable.
Step 2: still thinking...

Hardwick Performance on YouTube has a 7.3 Godzilla mustang so why not the Ranger?

I think the easy solution is finding an old truck to gut and start from scratch but I know "easy" normally means "boring"

There have been Coyote swaps in Australia.

You're gonna spend a lot of time and money on this. It'll most definitely end up like the King Ranch Ranger in the end.

Good luck.
We haven't heard from the King Ranch guy in a while...did he finish the build to his liking?
