7.3 Godzilla swap

Okay guys, I am seriously looking into swapping a 7.3 v8 into my 21’ ranger. I think it would be the perfect swap. It’s reliable, has a lot of power, comes with a ac setup now, the 10r80 in our trucks works perfectly with it and the most important part is it is smaller than a 5.0 and barely bigger than a 2.3. Just wanted to know if anyone else has been thinking of this and better yet has anyone done anything with a 7.3 yet?

On newer vehicles the problem isn't so much bolting in a different engine, it's getting all the electronics to work.
I'd suggest dropping it off at Roush or Brenspeed along with a check for $30,000 to get started.
The Godzilla is an OHV engine and might not take up too much room but the steering column might be a problem.
I come from the Sport Trac world and Brenspeed is the only shop AFAIK who successfully supercharged a V8 Sport Trac, they did a couple of them.

First response that I can actually appreciate. I’m going to start it at some point and then just daily my f150. The goal is to do a 7.3 swap and 3.0 bypass setup for the ultimate little prerunner build.

I can't wait to see the wiring/programming; assuming you are going/planning to get everything working (gauges,etc). Mine seems to have enough trouble figuring out how to run SYNC.

Think your biggest limiting factor is power plant weight and weight distribution. The coyote might be a better selection

You're gonna spend a lot of time and money on this. It'll most definitely end up like the King Ranch Ranger in the end.

I think this sounds like a fantastic idea! Especially since it is your money and not mine. Seriously though, if the 7.3 would fit, it would be a lot of fun to see the results. Lots of pictures if you decide to do it! Good luck!

10s of thousands of dollars and months of labor to swap a drive train that would get walked by a tuned F150. Sure, why not?

The subjects of engine swaps gets brought up every few months. Nothing ever comes of it. It's mostly just something to talk about on the internet. Folks with the resources and skill to pull off these kinds of projects typically just do them. Cross platform late model engine swaps tend to be extremely expensive and labor intensive, especially if you are trying retain factory functionality.
