Hello,
I have a 2019 ford ranger lariat, I was replacing a center carrier bearing on rear drive shaft. When I took it apart I realized I messed up and forgot to mark mating pieces. I put it back together and of course I have now a vibration from the drive shaft. So I’ve been looking around, seems like it’s not a problem getting a new one as they seem to be fairly available. Now the ones that are being sold, new and used at LKQ don’t fit my Ranger. The problem is that all others have 4 bolt flanges on both sides Trans and Diff. Mine is the 8 bolt high speed one on the diff side. I went to dealer and they pulled up a picture with 4 bolt diff mating flange. What is so special about my Ranger? Was there a recall on the rear axle and it just hasn’t been done? Really scratching my head here, been looking everywhere, and no one knows why that is. First 2 pictures is what mine looks like, the other two pictures is everyone else’s driveshaft.

Sounds like its been updated to the Tremor style driveshaft. Ford is putting the Tremor driveshaft’s in place of the 4 bolt style when doing driveshaft replacements. Pretty sure the part # you need is LB3Z-4R602-E

Is there a reason you can't just pull the center slip joint back apart and spin it 180 degrees?

It should be keyed, but it can be put back together 180 deg out.

I believe is did not do this, it's been a while since I have replaced a carrier bearing but if I recall this section is not keyed.

Looks like rebalancing it is the only option. Unless he could see if there’s any distinguishing paint/rust marks that would line up to the original placement.

It’s not keyed and not marked. Also went to every single drive shaft shops. They told me because of the 8 bolt flange, they can’t balance it. One shop took it in just to tell me it’s out of balance, didn’t do anything, told me my carrier bearing is out of whack.

It’s not keyed, 180 degree spin wouldn’t do much as you have to take this part off before you can replace center carrier bearing. So in essence, there is infinite potential positions.

Yes exactly, so if it’s not available, then there has had to be a recall on the rear differential carrier or yoke.

No, the previous owner probably had a driveshaft issue. Ford would have replaced the original driveshaft with the Tremor style driveshaft. That also requires that the rear differential drive flange be replaced to accept the Tremor style driveshaft. You could get the original style driveshaft and differential drive flange and switch it back.

If the truck is not a Tremor then the dealer would never swap in a Tremor style driveshaft into the truck, this is a owner installation, it would void the warranty on the driveshaft and Ford corporate would never approve this swap and allow the dealership to install it on a non Tremor truck.

I stand - CORRECTED, I researched the related TSB and I see what Ford did, to correct the Shudder/Vibe issue for (4WD) & (Non-Tremor) they incorporated into the TSB to replace the driveshaft and rear axle flange with the Tremor style driveshaft, thus a valid and approved Part Number change.
So, if you are searching by VIN# (it may show) not available as it was not installed as (OE) and show not available. Try searching only the part number within the Ford Sites.
