So I'm looking to replace the shocks and add a level for larger tires. 2019 Lariat Super-Crew 4x4 (non-FX4)
Was quoted $1300 for the Bilstein 5100's, front only. My thought was they can just use the factory springs. Otherwise it was $2400ish for the 6200 kit (4 corners). From what I understand the rears are easy, so I'd do those myself.
This cost includes alignment.
What are all your thoughts?

Pricey! I paid $1500 for a Fox leveling kit (shocks and springs) installed including an alignment.

I think I paid about the same. I bought my Foxes from Stage 3 ($800-900) and paid 4 Wheel Parts for the install and alignment ($600).

Seems reasonable for a shop. This is more work then just changing to Fox’s as they come pre assembled. These will have to have everything removed in a spring compressor and installed etc.

My 5100s, install, Wildpeaks mounted, balanced and "aligned" at the Ford dealer came out to $1139. But that was in 2022.

Struts are under $300 an alignment is $100-125 so I'd say that's high but maybe not crazy high depending on your location. I'd think a grand is more in line. I paid a guy $350 cash to do it as a side job.

Some are missing a vital point. The Bilstein 5100 is not a complete strut like some. This increases the overall labor cost simply to swap over parts from one strut to another. Wouldn't be so bad if it was an assembly

It seems a bit high but maybe only by a couple hundred bucks.

I’ve done this twice in my driveway and it took part of an afternoon. A shop did the alignment and I didn’t have to swap coils but I have a good understanding of the time involved.

A good shop should be able to do this in an hour per side, plus an hour for setting up and swapping the coils over. They would also have the proper press needed for working on coil overs, so that it’s fast, easy, and safe.

If they replace all the nuts Ford says to replace, it should be about $50 in parts. Then there are shop charges and the alignment. Here’s a breakdown…

Labour: $450 (3 hrs @ $150/hr)
Parts: $50
Shop Charges: $25
Alignment: $125

Total for the shop: $650

How much are they charging for the shocks? Parts are a big profit area for them. Their wholesale price on these might not be low enough to make the margins they do on other things so they may have jacked them up significantly. You might be able to do better if you get them to quote you labour only and buy the shocks yourself.

i think others have pointed out how the quote isn't outrageous given the work being done. that said, Ford's accessory site has the Fox "tuned by Ford" system (front and rear) for $1,420 and you can lock in the installation charge for $360. I actually got a coupon from Ford for 25% off orders over $1,000, so that $1,780 order would be $1,335 (before tax) total with installation (not sure if alignment is included or not).

if the bilsteins are what you want then that's what you want. i think the price makes sense when you break down the labor and such. but if you're asking if there are lower prices for other systems out there, then i think the answer is yes.

I have done a few 5100 installs on various IFS fords. Takes about 2-3 hours tops. Thats in may garage with mostly hand tools. A shop should be much faster with a lift and air tools. Max labor charge of $500. Anything more and they are gouging you. Alignment is $100.

That seems steep but depends on where you're at.

I'm in a richer uppity college town but the ford dealer swapped my front OEM for 4600s for $600 with alignment.
Local shops quoted me with similar prices.

But you'll probably have to do what I did; Bookmark the listing and keep checking every so often cause they keep a low stock. I think it took me a months worth of checking few times a week til I nabbed a pair.

Part number:
Front: 24-233552
Rear: 24-294195
Non-tremor, pretty sure the RWD and 4WD models use the same shocks and struts.

You can also try amazon using the part numbers, but again they're usually out of stock as well.

I've been quoted $1200 from Ford dealership for Bilstein 5100 all four installation only - and $900 by a local shop.
