Hooked up the trailer and put together a load of yard debris, rotten firewood and an old door. Dump run tomorrow.

Nice to see trucks doing truck stuff - I have some rotten, cut but not split, firewood from the previous owner to get rid of. I guess I’ll be loading up the back soon enough.

Yeah, I asked the sales guy to let us know on Monday when the service department is back in and has a chance to take a look at it, but in the meantime the damage is done. To be fair, she isn't the biggest fan of the Santa Fe's redesign; it's too boxy and feels too much like a station wagon to her to begin with. The only reason she decided to test drive it was because her 2017 Santa Fe had been really solid, and would likely have gone a few more years if it hadn't been totaled.

Now, the uncertainty of what did happen has tainted not only the Santa Fe for her, but Hyundai in general and possibly even hybrids. The fact that so many makes (at least, that we looked at) either don't offer hybrids at all or only for a few models as opposed to their entire fleet was already raising questions about whether hybrid was really the way to go, and she was real gung-ho about it when we started out on this quest.
For those following this mini saga, the sales guy from Hyundai called. It would seem that mice got under the hood and chewed through the cables which is why everything shut down. Apparently they did that to 3 other cars as well. It’s a $2,000 repair job, not to mention the lost business.

Good to know and at least it wasn’t an electrical malfunction. In my best Frank Costanza voice....I will not tolerate infestation! lol 🐭

No idea, and we'll never know. Even the Hyundai guy knew it wouldn't happen. He called to let us know what happened, as he had promised he would, but he didn't even try to salvage the sale.

Took my wife to Missoula, Montana for Mother's Day. Two nights at a great B&B just south of town. Fourth time staying there and the owners are friends of ours. Hit some great museums and a little shopping. Worth the trip! A few highlights are the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Visitor Center and HQ, Fort Missoula, Butterfly Center and Traveler's Rest in Lolo (where Lewis and Clark camped going west and again returning east). The Ranger got almost 25 mpg going over and 27 mpg coming back today. A lot of mountains, two passes, Lookout and 4th of July. It rode and drove great!

New set of 285/70r17 Falken Rubitreks with Lock Off-Road Lunatic 17x9 +1 offset Rims. 2022 Tremor with 2" level. I used ReadyLift 67-2900 Anti-Intrusion Beams. I may look for some Raptor Fender Flares next.
