I think you need to go with silicone based.
See post #15 above for a link to the parts needed.Im getting ready (grease on the way) to lay underneath and do this and was wondering about the clamps on the boot, size or part #... would a worm clamp work or throw it out of balance? I don't have the clamp tool either unfortunately...
I did see that but I wasn't planning on replacing the boot, I was just gonna cut the one clamp and pull the boot back and lube things up, looking under there, I dont even think I need to remove the flange bolts, once the carrier bearing drops , it should slip out i think...See post #15 above for a link to the parts needed.
In the video, he states that the inside diameter of one end of the boot was 42mm and the other end 45mm.I did see that but I wasn't planning on replacing the boot, I was just gonna cut the one clamp and pull the boot back and lube things up, looking under there, I dont even think I need to remove the flange bolts, once the carrier bearing drops , it should slip out i think...

I forgot I had pex crimpers ! I too shall check !Hmmm, I wonder if the jaws of my PEX plumbing clamp tool would fit the Ranger’s boot clamps. The clamps use exactly the same technology and design but is the part you pinch the same size or too big to fit in the jaws?
I guess I need to crawl under the truck with my clamp tool and check.
Oops, thanks for the warning. Just put a twist-tie on there and it’ll be fine.![]()
It fits perfectly!!!
BUT !!!

When I tried it on the front, it locked on and I had to squeeze it to get it to release and it turns out to be a better clamp remover than clamp installer...

Which i WAS NOT READY TO DO at this time ... these clamps are FAR MORE FLIMSY than pex clamps ... I guess I will put a worm clamp on it for now...
Thanks alot Duke !!!
It is a really quick way to remove them though... the rear clamp let me squeeze all the way to release but the front snapped pretty easily...
