It's because most of these newer vehicles have so much technology in them that there's parasitic drain from it. If you're not driving it much or do short trips it never has time to recharge the system. My battery on my '19 Ranger died in the first 18 months and had 2 dead cells and ever since then I've had it hooked up to a maintainer and haven't had any problems with either of my Rangers. It's just the price to pay for all this tech whether it's useful of not.
This! If you could turn off the battery draw completely like the old days, it wouldn't be much of an issue. Add to that the questionable BMS designed to save fuel rather than battery life...
Side note, I have multiple years on a lithium battery on my Harley which sits a lot more than I would like to admit. It has a lithium specific charger/maintainer and so far has never let me down. Weekend weather suggests I might get her out for a ride, so we'll see what another long off season brings for said lithium battery.

I'm on 6 1/2 years on my factory battery. Shows 9/19 om build date. I know I'm getting close to replacing.
You got more than your monies worth out of that stock battery. I'd get a new one and at least have it on hand for when it dies because you know it's not going to be a convenient time when it does. lol

FWIW, the AGM battery at Advance Auto parts comes with a 4 year warranty, and they'll check yours for free

Good thing you weren’t headed to Green Valley to surprise Dave with that new pet Rottweiler/Doberman-cross shelter rescue, like we planned.

I have the Lariat with everything but the premium sound system and mine went after three and a half years. Just before it acted up I used Forscan to change to the 90% charge instead of the factory setting. I don't know what the factory warranty is/was on the battery and even then I wonder if it's prorated?

That's why I postulated two and a half years.

It's covered 100% under the 3/36,000. When mine went on my '19 I didn't pay a dime and that was around the 18 month mark.

OP, probably time for replacement, your call

Mine finally needed replacement today. Hard to start first time. Had all the usual warning signs prior. Just didn't want to be stranded

Build date 4/19, 49.6k miles. Regularly sits for 1-2 weeks at a time. Normal driving, extended idling offloading 15 or so trips, towing 25 or so trips

ASS eliminator since new. Vent hood on hot days in garage

The only time it was on a trickle charger was last winter when I feared it was getting old and plugged it in desert camping overnight in 35 degree weather

Straightforward job, asked Gemini for the BMS reset instructions since I was too lazy to find the thread here
