Tried staring my Ranger this morning but wouldn’t. The dash lit up and sync display but cut out immediately followed by the sound of relays clicking near the battery.
How can I go about testing the battery? I used a fluke voltmeter to measure and had 9.0vDC. Should I remove the battery and take it to AutoZone for testing?
My truck is a late 2019 with 67k miles, original battery.. maybe it’s just time. I also see some forums about a battery maintainer

anything under 10 volts, and it is dead. May take a charge but have trouble holding it. I changed mine out last month just to be ahead of the curve even though it would still hold a charge for over a week before dropping to 12 volts but would drop to 10.75 while starting, too close for me. 6 years is very good now days for a 12 volt car battery.

A battery test would help you feel better about buying a new battery. That's pretty good time for your OEM battery - it's served you well! =)

I use a CTEK battery tender on my truck but it's a 2022 with 10K miles, so should last another year or two.

Not sure the CTEK would "heal" your battery, although it does "desulphate" a battery, but for the cost of the CTEK, a new battery is likely the best for a few more years.

Let us know what you do and, if you get it tested, let us know how it looks. That info helps us all understand our Rangers better.

Good luck!

My post about wiring the CTEK: https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/what-did-you-do-to-your-ranger-today.3511/post-464715

$89 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CD44RQO

And I have a battery tester like this ($69): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CMPY86M?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_17

Six years on an OEM battery in a 2019 Ranger in Southern California is well above the curve, considering that bad batch of batteries they had in 2019 and how tough heat is on AGM batteries. Sounds like you should get some sort of prize Erik.

Have you seen this guy hanging around your truck? ‘cause, you know.

Does that work on AGM batteries? Everything I've seen say that it's not very effective on AGM batteries, buy they will be happy to sell you one.
I think Steve @IdahoRanger is using it on his and it seemed to be working. I have the desulphate setting on my Ctek maintainer and run it every 6 months. I'm not sure if it's working but I'm going on 2 /12 years and its still good so I guess if I get another 1-2 years it might have helped.

The desulfate works. I have the Noco Genius5 and it does its job on the AGM. I extended the life of my battery and brought it from over 6 IR down to low 3 or even high 2 IR numbers.

I don't drive much so did finally replace the battery at 5 1/2 years for peace of mind. I will occasionally use the Noco on the new battery if needed.

A fully discharged car battery will read 12.2v. 9v usually indicates one dead cell if the battery is fully charged, or a deeply discharged battery. Based on age it is time for a new battery.
