Just saw there is a recall for the 5Gs for a software problem with the backup cameras. Looks like a bunch of other models also included.

Maybe this is the problem with some folks losing the camera.

To my knowledge so far from what I have read on this recall, the 5G Ranger was not included in this only the 2024 Ranger, unless something has changed since May when this was first announced.

Here’s more information. Wondering what’s so specific about this software. Out of 300000+ Rangers in that time span only 11000 need the recall

Per the link above, this appears to be a new one. The article references the million truck recall in May for rearview camera issues as does this one. Letter will be mailed to owners of record July 28th

My VIN still shows no recalls, but I saw something about letters going out by July 28, so maybe it hasn't gotten in the system yet.

I'm also curious if they are just checking if Sync is updated? Don't know if the cam is controlled via sync or it's a firmware update for the cam itself.

Coincidentally, we just got a notice for my wifes Volvo, I think for the cam... but maybe I'm just conflating the issue. I haven't actually seen the Volvo recall, just a notice that one is coming and I googled it.

It appears to be vehicles with a certain version of SYNC (2.3 R10 RC1).

My guess is the "fix" is to update SYNC to a newer/different version.

I just put my plate number on this recall website, no active recalls. 2019 Lariat

I have been having this issue with the back up camera staying on. I was going to ask about it when I have service done. It's easy to shut it off with the x in the corner

Excellent. While I’m in getting this warranty check on my 2019 I’ll be like

Back up camera? Well that’s a perfect example of a recall I would/will ignore. They can deal with it if/when my truck is in the shop for something else.

Here you go - just posted yesterday
They will most likely address it with a (Sync) Update within the APIM.
By the wording of the Recall, it relates to (ISP-R) Ignition Switch Position-Run and Gear Position (Reverse) signal data from the CAN Bus and the ability of the APIM to retain (memory) of settings.

The APIM is always powered, however it takes the (ISP-R) data signal to get it to boot up.

Will this affect (all members) - I have a feeling that those that are not (current) Sync Version
(23188) I think will be the most receiving recall notices, just like the last (Sync-Recall) I was not included as I had the current version.
Guess we will have to wait and see. what specific APIM Vendor or Software Version has the issue to warrant a Recall or what specific software parameter is glitchy if they do a full Sync 3.4 system update to a newer version.
This will hopefully be the last of the updates as 23188 appears to be the most stable out of all the versions.

I found a setting and I cant remember where but it changes how long the camera stays on after you shit into drive 2sec/8sec or 10sec I remember setting it to the max so I can at least watch the trailer for the first few feet, turns off in 0sec when shifted into park
