The funnel is very nice. Beats my old method, which I THOUGHT was very good!

I'm going to find caps for both ends to keep the dust and dirt out and find a place on my garage tool board to place it. Best of all it matches my Iconic Silver Ranger perfectly!

It is so nice I don't want to use it.

Hello all,
I just installed my MBS Transmission Dipstick Kit today.
As many others have stated, this kit is outstanding, from the packaging to the fitment. The install went much bettter than most of the DIY accessory installs that I have done in the past.
Earlier in my truck’s life I had looked into an accessory dipstick, but the only one at that time was the B&M, and I was not very impressed.
I would like to thank Mike for enduring the many busted knuckles that most likely resulted from his R&D work to come up with the kits that we have today!!
I would also like to thank quangdog for his excellent video documenting his installation!
I have 76,000 on my Ranger, and just before my 60,000 power train warranty ran out, I had erratic shifting. The transmission Main Controller was replaced and I was given a 12,000 mile warranty on this work.
As I was reading through this forum recently , I found information regarding the addition of Lube Gard Platinum with very good results, and to my delight, at this same time I found the postings about Mike’s dipstick kit.

I bought mine after watching the discussion about checking the fluid levels and frustration at the difficulty and unwillingness of the dealer to do so. This was while the failures of the 10R80 were getting attention - some speculation that they were coming underfilled from the factory and I got one as quickly as I could.

I was pretty happy to discover my transmission had the correct level of fluid and went on to have the dealer change out the fluid and filter. Came back a little underfilled but that was perfect for adding the Lubeguard.

The dolts at my nearby quickie oil change place decided I was low on transmission fluid and added the wrong type - I flipped out on them a little. The upshot is I'll be able to exchange (over time) the fluid to hopefully postpone any failure. I bought the Ford extended warranty because of the potential CDF failure. I mean to keep this truck a long time.

Mike's contribution to our 5G community is immeasurable. We're going to see the nature of this community change - and have - lots of 'new' members buying used trucks, some modders blowing up motors and breaking suspensions and people personalizing theirs for various reasons. Just remember opinions are like armpits.

There's going to be good advice and bad, unsafe if done wrong changes and the inevitable 'another 5G gone' threads. There are members who still post that don't own a 5G any more - we like 'em anyway. Heck we have people that talk negatively about our/their trucks. We'll have our inside jokes and common interests that have little to do with the Ranger.

I'm hoping this forum is around for a long time, it's certainly been a great asset for me.

Received my funnel yesterday, I'll be using it this week. Thank you Mike!!

Question for the guys who use the pump method to drain the trans: I want to avoid the possible disaster of getting coated with 150°-200° ULV when I'm under the truck. At what temperature have you drained your transmission using the little pump? I'm concerned it would get destroyed with the fluid at operating temperature.

Not to be a smart ass, but why would you empty it at operating temperature?

For the same reason you don't change your oil when it's cold. I don't have to change it that hot, of course, but I want to get as much out as I can each time I do it, so It's going to be at least 130° when I do. ?
