I purchased a set of Black Chrome factory style lug nuts for my XL steel wheels. They had to have the bulge ring to retain the plastic factory hub cap. But after just one tire rotation and one winter they are covered in rust. These were the Lug Nuts I purchased: Amazon.com: Wheel Accessories Parts 24 Pcs M12x1.5 12x1.5 Thread OEM Style Lug Nuts 1.25" 32mm Long Black Chrome 3/4" 19mm Hex Hex Fits Ford Bronco (NO Raptor) Ranger (NO Raptor) CV6Z-1012-C | 611-303 : Automotive
Any suggestions on a set that have the factory bulge that is true Black Chrome that will not rust?

I was looking at these: Amazon.com: White Knight M12x1.5 Lug Nuts for Select Ford Bronco, Escape, EcoSport, Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, Ranger and Lincoln Corsair, MKs. Factory Style (Black Chrome) Bulge Acorn – WN30307BK-24AM (24 Pack) : Automotive
But I just don't trust the advertising hype. :)

I have had the same lugnuts since 2021 and mine are nowhere near that bad. Several rotations, I need to replace my tires this spring. And they are not afraid of using salt brine here in Wisconsin.

Those are chinesium garbage. Ford sells a set in their Ranger accessories, get those. I got a set of Gorilla brand keyed black nuts before Ford had them back in 2019.

Yeah, we all go cheap once or twice. Or more. I've NEVER done that. Probably... Maybe...
Try to save a few bucks and you end up spending more.

Chinesium. I have to remember that one.

Checked Ford Ranger Accessories. They only had locking black lug nuts. With OEM steel wheels, locking lug nuts are not necessary. I mean who would steal OEM steel wheels??

I think most of us learn our lesson the hard way and realize it's best to "buy once, cry once".

Being Polish it's taken me a few more times to learn my lesson. :curse:

The black chrome, looks more like black paint! Having said that though the stock Ford nuts are garbage too, one or two tyre changes and the stupid stainless foil sleeve starts to come off. If that happens you struggle to get a socket on them. I replaced mine with a good set of solid steel aftermarket chrome ones, no more problems!

I changed mine for two reasons, one, the OEM ones are indeed crap. Two, the black chrome ones look soooooo much better against the dark gray wheel!

I've had these on my Ranger for a couple years and several rotations and they still look fine. Also note, I do not use an impact on my lug nuts. They look to be a little longer than the ones you got, and maybe not as much of a lip for that cap. But, I have the black appearance aluminium wheels.

I have done some research on the Black Chrome Lug Nuts. And it seems like the chrome plated versions are hard chromed and the Black plated versions are not. Thus, if you use an impact wrench, the chatter burns thru the soft Black chrome plate and the lug nuts rust. I have always used an impact and choose not to go back to a manual wrench just to baby the inferior Black chrome plating as seen here: Tech Editor Reviews Ryobi P263VN 18 Volt 3/8ths Impact - YouTube
So what I decided to do is something I will do every 7000 miles after my tire rotation:

We used these at work and the oil based paint will hold up at least as good as the soft Black chrome plating.

Fair enough I can understand that.
