Thats sad. My experience was 100% opposite. In less than 2 weeks from my initial appointment I had a new trans in my truck. No BS, Just referenced the TSB, they did all 3 steps in 1 day and order the transmission. Drove it for a week (still driveable). Took a week to get new Trans and 1 1/2 days for them to install.

Wow! After reading this, I'm thinking I should consider trading mine in before something happens. I'm not having any issues so far at 42k miles. Does anyone have a 19 to 23 with high mileage and no tranny issues?
I’m at 85k miles. Tow frequently and tow on one long trip a year. But I’m not gonna lie, I’m a little nervous….

I would get a warranty from a 3rd party that can use Ford dealers... it's 6-8k out of pocket costs. I also towed alot

I’ve thought about it. Im not sure which warranty companies are actually good and which ones will do everything to deny the claim just to be stuck paying for it in the end.

I was thinking the same. From what I've heard they are all scammers.

I had good luck when I bought my Ford Flex used from a Toyota dealership with an extended warranty. When the waterpump took a dump they covered it no questions asked. Got my money's worth

A quick update for those still interested.

I can't thank you all enough for your replies and great info. This is an awesome forum, and community. I hope nothing but the best for everyone with the 10R80. I really hope the CDF Drum /Bushing failure is as rare as some report. My original post is only my experience.

I completely agree with the frequent fluid and filter changes. The "recommended service intervals" are complete bullshit. The info provided about possible electrical/wiring issues, as well as the EGR/DPFE sensor are very much appreciated.

The Update:
My Ranger has now been at dealership #1 (where I purchased the truck) for 3 weeks straight. I have not received a single call, text, or email with any sort of update. I received 3 notifications from the FordPass app the Wednesday after I took the truck in. Powertrain Fault, Engine Fault, and Turbo Fault. Since January 29th the truck has not been started or driven. The FordPass app says it's in battery saver mode, and can't connect to the truck.

At this point, I'm pretty much done. I have lost all confidence in the truck. I'm looking into a lemon law claim. Also, if the dealership does "magically" fix all the problems with it, I'm considering trading it in and demanding top dollar trade in value. If the vehicle is "all fixed up and perfectly fine" I see no reason for them not to take it back. I'll be looking for a early/mid 90's F-150 or F-250, or one of the newer F-150's with a 5.0 coyote and 6 speed trans.

Most likely it’s in battery saver mode because it hasn’t been started in 14+ days. Hate to see crappy dealers pulling this stuff.

My nephew's F150 left his parents stranded on the interstate 125 miles from their destination (over 700 miles away), His is a 2016 F150 5.0 V8 with 40K miles on it. Dealer had it 3 days. I've forgotten the details, but a sensor failed and the truck simply stopped and would not restart.

I'd go back to the mid 90's to 2005, maybe to as late as 2010, but not much newer.

Why stop at the 90s. Let's go back to the 70s. Remember carburetors and point/coil ignition systems. What do we need tech for? ?

You need to skip the 70's as that is when the EPA strangled the cars with all manner of add on emission crap. After 1972, all American cars were dogs for several years. Even the speedometers only went to 80mph!

If you are going way back, you need to go back to the 60's up to 1972. 1973 were pigs. Things didn't start looking up until the mid 80's.

Look at the Mustangs as a typical example, 64-72 were great, then came the decade of the Mustang II  .

The Fox body was better with the 5.0 V8. but I could dust them with my 93 Miata 1.6L 4cyl with a supercharger!

Things finally started to come around with the 4th Gen Mustang 4.6l Supercharged V8 in the mid 90's.

In my mind, things started to go south again in the late 20 teens... too much nanny state electronics.

Anyway... it is what it is...

Wasn't commenting on performance. The comment was on the lack of the technology that everyone seems to hate when it breaks.

Had a 70 Cuda myself. Loved it, but it couldn't turn a corner for S%@T. That torsion bar front suspension Chrysler had back then was horrible.
