Rock Auto has Motorcraft cabin filters.Gez thank you to this thread! Going to try that Purolator one.
I wanted to get a better than OEM cabin filter before our road trip and for some reason no one has the cabin filters listed for the Ranger (retail and amazon was not 100% clear either). Deserves a bump for those trying to avoid the dealer. I have been hit n miss with carbon ones, in our '16 Pilot I felt like I lost a noticeable amount of airflow. We'll see how the Ranger does. I think the one in there might have absorbed shop scents from being at the dealer 7 weeks.
Warm that engine up long enough and you got some good possum stew waiting for you!!!!His helper!

What is funny is that my local dealer marks up parts even higher than MSRP, last couple times I have just got it from them out of convenience but I am tired of being there more recently.Rock Auto has Motorcraft cabin filters.

What I don't understand is how dealers, oil change places and repair shops charge such inflated prices to replace cabin air filters. My daughter took her 2004 Honda Accord to get some maintenance and they wanted $116 to replace the cabin air filter. I spent like $18 to get one at RockAuto and it took all of 2 minutes to replace. EVERYWHERE I've seen quotes for air cabin replacement they are RIDICULOUS. It took me a LOT longer to replace an engine air filter on our C-Max than it does to replace the cabin air filter and some places say they will do that for free. What is funny is that my local dealer marks up parts even higher than MSRP, last couple times I have just got it from them out of convenience but I am tired of being there more recently.
As a former Benz tech, I agree. If you take it in for an oil change, it should just be parts since they are already working on the vehicle and they mark parts up. My Ford dealer wants like $38 for the cabin filter plus labor to install which is a joke, something like $85 they told me once. What I don't understand is how dealers, oil change places and repair shops charge such inflated prices to replace cabin air filters. I don't begrudge places wanting to be compensated for labor but that is like 20-30 mins of labor for a 2 min job - LITERALLY. It is one of my pet peeves.....
This is why I roll my eyes at anyone whenever they say crap like " they have employees and bills to pay"What I don't understand is how dealers, oil change places and repair shops charge such inflated prices to replace cabin air filters. That was kind of my point - it isn't ONE shop - it seems like EVERYWHERE charges an outrageous amount to replace that filter. It is just nuts.No thats just the shop owner being greedy at that point. And if they need to do that to stay a float they're not gonna last long.
