Well right now this post is what AM I doing for my Ranger today. I am sucking out my trans fluid to replace it and the filter. Also installing a new pan with a drain plug. The vacuum pump is a pump and vacuum unit from Harbor Freight, you can get this one, one that only sucks, or a pneumatic one. Depends on how this project goes, Barney will get a tire rotation and new brakes today. If not a good morning the rest will wait until tomorrow. The BS in front of Barney is my wife's ride, Betty.

Installed a AeroForce Interceptor gauge & pod. Just a few thoughts regarding the installation

- You will have to make a hole in the defroster duct to allow the cable to pass through. My Dremel tool made short work of this.
- Fishing the cable is a bit of a challenge due to limited access. An old piece of speedometer cable did the trick first try!
- The gauge does not "snap" into the pod, nor does the small piece of foam included keep the gauge secure in the pod. I ended up having to wrap the barrel of the gauge with electrical tape until I achieved a diameter that was a gentle but firm press fit. At this price point I would expect something a little better, say grub screws to hold the gauge into position.
- The Interceptor gauge has more functions and potential displays, some parameters that I have no idea what they are. The instructions that come with the unit are vague, but AeroForceTech.com has full manuals that are free to download that go into great detail.

Basic truck/car stuff. Sure, it was out of rotation but all this recent talk of mice and glove box dampers, made me check.

Cabin air filters don’t know it’s time to be changed and my personal schedule is every oil change. I haven’t been logging the miles, and it wasn’t “time” but I thought I’d take a quick look - glad I did - they clog up faster than we might think.

I change my cabin filters once a year, whether they need it or not. All three rides get a new one in late Fall, along with the yearly services.

My little Transit is really picky about airflow when it is even lightly dirty. So always keep an extra on hand.

Couple of months back I got a K&N Cabin Filter from another member here. I take it out once a month and give it a cleaning and slip it back...no need to "recharge" it as the dry filter picks up plenty.
Granted, I got it cheap, but if you replace your filter a few times a year, even buying a new one will save you $$$$$ in the long run.
Just something to think about....

Thanks Steve - at about 2-1/2 times the price of a regular filter, this makes a lot of sense. Plus, I can clean it while I‘m cleaning my Roush CAI filter after an oil change. ?

They do sell a oil kit meant for cabin air filters(it's not the same as the air intake oil spray).

Not that you'd need it but it's there. Must be ordered through their website it seems.

I'll get some pics tomorrow

Hit 5k so out came some of the supplies
1000005853.jpg

Purolator Boss filter and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum replacements for the synthetic blend and motor craft filter.

You're supposed to remove a skid plate for access to the drain plug and definitely need to in order not to make a mess. Went ahead and installed a widget plug for next time that comes with a drain hose ? father turned me into some Motorhead YouTube channel where the guy was raving about it. Seems worth a shot and I won't have to remove the skid next time.

Still need to get it up on Jack stands for the tire rotation and finish up the ecvX installation. Put a light bar on the back that was 'allegedly' 60 watts which should have been under 5amps on a 12v system.

It was not. Blew three mini fuses. Tried rewiring part of my setup in case something was shorting out, nope. Just power hungry. Moved it to a 15amp fused and relayed switch, no issues. ??‍♂ I think perhaps it's a little more than 60 watts ?

Anyways, all good in the hood now. Throttle controller works, the dead pedal when you lock the accelerator is awesome ? Nice theft deterrent.

I'll get more pics tomorrow. Need to see if the dealership is getting close to being ready to replace my trans too.

Installed my seat jackers today. The plastic tabs covering seat bolts came off and went back in without an issue.

Took my wife and I over an hour to line up the brackets and get the seat in position.
Had to cut away some excess carpet under the seat as well. Probably saved myself $250 or so on a professional installation which I thought about.

Haven’t driven it yet, but sat in it after the installation and knew immediately this was the right thing to do. I knew from the moment I bought my truck that I had to so something for thigh support.

Cleaned out the bed in preparation for upcoming adventure. Stop in PA to camp one night (at Caledonia State Park - fly fish Mountain Creek) on my way to western CT to metal detect a couple really old farms for two days, then 2 nights camping at American Legion State Forest in CT (fly fish the Farmington River one of New England's top trout rivers) and then drive to Western Maryland mountains to bow hunt whitetails for a few days with a buddy. Road trip 5-15 September. Probably 2100ish miles round trip. Looking forward to Sepember temps in the NE!

Did you install Front or Back, having my seat out numerous times for my seat comfort issue.
I will say - line up the bolt hole and the guide pin on the (I/B) front leg and let it slightly drop on the hole - then rotate the (O/B) front leg until it drops in the hole.
If power seats, it's easier to do when pulling the seat is to remove the rear bolts first and then the front (the fronts require the seat to be fully moved rearward) for access - then disconnect the seat wire harness, so when you go to install the seat - it is already in the most rearward position.

For me, I did a temp install of the 3/8 jacker on the rear, just playing with it. I might plan on a longer install and drive to see if it helps in the (pelvic tilt) of the seat.

I just installed (both shims) on the front. I prefer a “bucket” style to keep me planted. Always had to scoot myself back as I drive because I constantly slide forward.
