So i usually buy my oil and filter from O'Reilly. I know I can get it cheaper but like the fact they are in my small town plus the take used oil. One gripe I have is the price difference between the 5 quart jug vs 1 quart. I can get the 5 quart for $37 but the one quart is $14 each.

I buy (1) 5 qt and (1) 1 qt for my other cars. I do not like to use oil later from an open bottle. Small amount ok, but would not like a open 5 qt bottle. Ranger is an issue being 6.2 qts I would do (2) 1 qt. Maybe you can find it cheaper online $14 seems high?

What are they using!!??!! Amsoil oil and amsoil mechanics?
I never understood how Amsoil got the reputation of being expensive. I get it for $7.49/quart delivered to my door.
Totally. Less then $100 for Amsoil and filter. XL maybe $120.00

Their Signature gets all the press at $15.49 I guess.

It’s because we buy expensive trucks but want to maintain them the cheapest way.
I have had customers with $150k cars asking for quotes and they say the same thing.” Oh that’s to expensive “. I think to myself, you drop $150k on a car , but you’re going to cheap out oil. Lol.
I use the Sig Series in my Ranger . 15,000km intervals for less then $17/q CDN , isn’t all that bad. With oil analysis I know the oil is doing its job. Only thing is fuel dilution which a why I stay at 15k intervals. Wear and Dirt are normal . If it wasn’t for the dilution I would do 20k intervals.

I don't care how good you think your oil is, I'm not going 10K-12K miles between services on any type or brand. There are other things that need attention besides oil changes.

you'll need a little trim remover tool they often include 100s of new plastic tabs too for around $10
and Get one of These: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GX1VMRP?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
drain plug is 15mm
i had the worst time getting filters out until i got this thanks to another forum member telling me about it. once you find the little channel that directs the filer oil to fall in a certain spot you will find this a very easy change they really did a good job once you figure out the access... was near impossible to get filter out without that tool though, what a nightmare...
i agree, worst vehicle to do an oil change i've ever owned, plus, when you undo the pan drain the oil comes out sideways, how stupid is that

It’s not I think it’s good oil, it is good oil. Lol. Nobody said you had to do 10k-12k between oil changes . That’s just my choice and it works well for me with no damage being done along with other maintenance done.

I didn't mean specifically your oil, as in the brand Amsoil. I've seen brands say they stand by their claim that it's guaranteed for long life, but how many will really back those words when a problem arises?

All good, I know what you meant. Amsoil does offer a warranty with an oil analysis provided should anything happen. Just in general over the years I’ve spoken with guys that have blamed oil for there engine damage. I asked them what the results of the oil analysis was. They said one wasn’t done. So how do you know the oil failed then, and that nothing else was going on with your motor to cause the failure? They said there mechanics said so. Lol. So your mechanics are chemists and can tell you what part of the oil formulation failed? They usually end the conversation by then. Lol.
Anyways, all good man, just good conversation.????

They get us coming and going. Off the subject somewhat, but same principle: I purchased a Deer Park single 16.9 ounce bottle yesterday for $2.38, same price as a soda. Then I thought about it, I buy a case of 35 (exact same thing) for $7, which means the same bottle is 20 cents each. I understand supply and demand, bulk versus single, etc., but this sums up how these companies rob us.
