So, here in The great state of California (sarcasm intended) we have a limited amount of options for extended warranties after you buy the vehicle. I have 21,000 mi on my ‘21, no issues so far, but I can get an extra 5 year-75,000 mi “bumper to bumper” 100 deductible for around $3100. It’s still under the original warranty. For those of you that have bought an extended warranty, is that price reasonable? It is through the Ford dealer I bought the truck from.

Yikes, I tried getting a quote for you via FloodFordESP.com but got this error:
We are sorry but due to California law, California Residents are not eligible for out of state service contracts. Please contact your local dealer.

In searching for what you should pay, your number doesn't seem out of the ordinary.

Someone here was looking in San Diego in October 23 and had a quote of $3K:

The extended thru Flood Ford. 8 years, 100,000 miles only ran $1195 when I got it in 2021, for my 2021 Ranger.
Must be that "furrin country" you live in !!!

Read the fine print on the extended warranties. IIRC, with the Ford plans, and maybe others, it's not an "extra" 5yr 75K. The warranty starts at mile 0 and the day you bought the truck, not the day you buy the warranty. In your case, the warranty would end in an additional 54K miles, or 2 years, whichever comes first. Basically, you would be paying $3100 for 2 years warranty with your low yearly mileage.

$3100? That's steep!

I bought one from my local Cali Ford Dealer before the 3 yr/36k miles expired.

We have no choice as the good state of California legislature made it a law to protect its citizens from potential fraud. Dealers have us over a barrel.

On Granger Fords website, a hypothetical premium care 8yr/100k, $100 deductible extended warranty ( IF you lived in Nevada) quote is $1705.

My 7 yr/100k miles premium care w/roadside cost me $1650 in June 2023. When I compared it to quote from Granger Ford it was about $250 more.
So, $1650 was reasonable at the time considering we are a captured audience.

I believe $3k is high. maybe try another dealer?

Very high.

I bought a 6yr/75k Ford Premium Care plan with a $100 deductible from Flood Ford in 2021 for $845.
You can't get near that price today, but $3k for only 5 years is high. Remember your power train warranty is already to 5 years, so you are just paying to extrend the 3/36 to 5 years.

I’m the guy from that thread and I haven’t found anything yet. I’m gonna start looking. One idea I have is to use my brothers address in a different state to buy through Grangers. First, I want the Ford warranty and not some 3rd party that denies claims when it’s major. Second I don’t think they do a registration check only address is used for the purchase. Maybe it works maybe it don’t. My dealer doesn’t sell the Ford ESP so all I could get was the 3rd party.

That price is very high. Like the other person on this thread said, the 5 years starts when your truck was initially purchased. With your low miles, you will most likely hit the 5 years before the 75k miles, so this is really a 2-year warranty for $3100. At that price, I would take my chances and pay for the repairs myself. Also, do not forget that your 5/60 powertrain warranty is still in effect.

Ford sells warranties for those still in the original warranty and for those without. So you CAN get an additional 75k miles and 6 year when out of warranty, that’s the longest one I saw. Also many shorter ones.

Interested to know if this approach works. Any updates ?

I added a 10/100,000 to mine back in December from Flood Ford for $1,905. I used my FordPass Points from buying my Tremor so that brought it down to $1,695.00. I would suggest adding the LED lighting as it's cheap insurance.
