Take it in if you’re still under warranty.. blend door is not suppose to be clicking.. express your concernsconfirm your warranty get a service advisor with the dealer and hopefully it’s not an intermittent issue (because those alway hide when you take it in.. like they know or something.).. sit there with them and make the issue happen. Under warranty, failure to operate correctly.. should be taken care of..
make them sit with you if it takes a couple times to get it to click like it shouldn’t…
Idk maybe I’m a butthead like that.. but in my mind he’s getting paid and I’m taking time out of my day not getting paid.. that’s how I justify it anyhow.
As far as extended warranty I got the highest mileage my dealer offered at time of purchasing the truck.

If all else fails resort to “KAREN” tactics ?

Why January? Can you not put one on close to expiration?
January is when my 3/36 warranty expires. I can put one on at any time before then. As I recall, last year Ford raised the esp prices in October. So, I will put one on my truck before any price increase.

You can do it at anytime up until the expiration. Just keep in mind it's based on miles and length of time you've owned the vehicle. So the more miles you put on and the longer you wait the more it will cost.

I got mine through Flood Ford last December and went with the 10/100K/$200 deductible plus the interior/exterior lighting coverage for $1,905. You can also use your FordPass points with them at checkout.

@AzScorpion @JimG_AZ thanks for the explanation guys. One more, does it matter who you buy it from? As I don’t know how long I will be around the current dealership.
No, you can buy it from any authorized Ford dealership and use it coast to coast.

You can certainly take the Granger esp price and go to you dealer and see what they will do. Look at it this way, it is one of the rear times that you will have the upper hand on the finance guy in a negotiation. Just lay it on the line with him, this is a yes or no answer.

In the past, I have been anti-extended warranties. I have until January to put one on my '21 Ranger. With the prices of everything going up, I am actually leaning towards buying the esp. I'll probably just buy mine from Granger since I like the way they do business.
Oh, i totally agree, actually on your whole post. Was just curious why most dealerships seem to not want to match, or at least come close. I've read that comment several times here.

You actually have 41 months from original purchase date. A hard decision I have 4 months left to decide. Truck has been perfect no issues whatsoever. Usually do not buy the warranty, but leaning towards getting one. Can get Premiumcare 10yr 100k $100 deductible for $2145 very tempting. One repair would make it worth it, but have been real lucky with my vehicles no major problems. Except Chevy Astro van, but that was a POS from day one. Bought third party warranty for that.

And by coast to coast, I think you mean the coasts of Canada, United States, and Mexico, yes? ?

I'm surprised that it didn't rot away before something broke.

I'm also on the fence. I've never bought one, and we've had very good luck with the last two vehicles (Toyota and VW) that we've bought new or almost new. I just got my pre-owned, non-CPO Ranger with 25K miles on it, and I can't find anything wrong with it. That said, $68/month for 18 months gets me to 100K miles and 5 more years of B2B with $200 deductible. My analytical side says that's a no brainer. My competitive side says roll the dice. I've got a few months to decide.

Does anyone know what the pre-owned inspection entails? I hear that's required.

The pre owned inspection I believe is only needed if you are over the 41 months.chryslerfactoryplans.com/library/documents/356-15-723_2015-02%20VEHICLE%20INSPECTION.pdf

You have to check with Grainger or your dealer. I think it's safe to get it before the MFG warranty goes out, but I believe that ESP starts at day 1, mile 0 of the truck. There is also a warranty for after the MFG warranty goes out or for used vehicles. The price on those will be quite a bit higher and depends on current milage and condition. I believe those start on the day you purchase the warranty.

Actually you can extend your warranty way AFTER you factory warranty has expired.

I put one in my 2020 Ranger this year that had 74K miles on in it. It's a Ford ESP Premium Warranty. I added 60K miles and 3 years. I'm good until 134K miles.

I used Lombard Ford online it was a very easy process. My truck did require an inspection......all it entailed was was a 3 Mike drive in my truck with me at the wheel.

No panic to get it before you factory warranty expires.

I'm also from the old school notion of not buying an extended warranty. But ... for Soupie ... I did. My first one ever and mainly because there is so much electronic stuff and I'm too old to bend, reach, and contort for doing much of anything. It was all I could do to figure out how to unclip the BMS connector yesterday!

I did the 8 year/80K one since I'm so close to the dump! =D
