Looks pretty sweet I’ll have to check it out, is it vehicle specific?
I'm pretty sure it works on anything with a OBD2 port but individual car models will have different gauges available to them. Our trucks happen to have lots of available parameters which is great. On my Toyota, I can't view the cvt temp, but I can see individual tire pressures and tire temps which are both unavailable without this.

Also, I got a deal on mine through AutoZone for $215 with a coupon I found online. FWIW

I changed the battery in my key fob today! LOL, finally a "mod" I can do sitting down with no minimal cussing (oh yeah, I still cussed, but just a little). =D

First off, I couldn't find anyone here with any info, I didn't want to go outside and get the manual (it's 39° and I'm a delicate daisy), and I also couldn't find my '22 XL bare bones fob online. Some that were close, but not this exact one. And with my irrational fear of breaking every plastic tab I even look at, I didn't want to be going at it like Sasquatch.

I don't have that Nancy push button start baloney (be a man, stick it in and twist!). =p

At first and after a very brief Googling, it looked like it was a CR2025 but I was going to see if I could squish a bigger 2032 in there. I was pleasantly surprised that my fob wasn't decontented and it actually had a 2032 in it.

flip out the key

look for the slot with a flashlight (or be a real man and use a match) =p
20231211_144045.jpg

put a small flat-head screwdriver in the slot and pries up (ugh, that makes me a nervous Nellie)
20231211_144115.jpg

hmm, Panasonic, surprised it was a name brand battery =)
20231211_141219.jpg

stick a new one in, I dunno if this is a factor anymore - it used to be you weren't supposed to get finger oil on them
20231211_141414.jpg

I'll change every Xmas, even though they can probably last 2+ years (I do use the Remote-X starter pretty much daily), but I don't want to find out the battery's dead when trying to get away from the zombie apocalypse
20231211_141433.jpg

hook the rear of the cover into the fob first
20231211_141505.jpg

so that the key side is the one to get pushed and clicked into place (nervous Nellie take two)
20231211_141516.jpg

then squeeze until it snaps together. LOL, the alarm then went off and I raced around like a spastic banshee

extra @DukeCanBuildit pic (only brand they had at grocery store, no particular loyalty)

Great write up David - my fob is chipped, cracked, and very dirty. The tiny roll pin that holds the key in place is always working its way out and the key gets stuck…..in the closed position. ☹

I think it might be time to detail it. Now I know how to get it apart. ?

Edit: Done, used my spare key to open it up - the key seems to fit the slot perfectly. I think all that the 303 did was highlight all the gouges and scratches.

Clearly, @subquark is a lot gentler with his key fob than I am. ?

It does get pretty grungy looking. I used a soft brass brush to clean the key itself. Not sure why it gets so dirty, I must pick my nose with it or something! =p

I was heartened to see a few people here, including our beloved Phil (@P. A. Schilke), say these were pretty water resistant - maybe that's the key (d'oh!) to keeping these clean - an occasional swim. Or maybe some Aerospace Proctectant?

At this rate, my key fob will soon look like this:

Posted this a while back, installed a J&L oil separator.

A member here said his mount broke 4 wheeling ?

Could have been a bad mount, who knows. However, it got me thinking about the precarious nature of the location they chose.

Should the mount give, or even the brass insert break out of the plastic stud on the top of the engine, there's really nowhere for it to go but into the serpentine belt and fan blades.

Wouldn't the hoses keep it out? You might ask and my answer is a pretty unconvinced maybe. Unmounted those hoses don't provide much support and to make the turn around the front of the engine there's enough slack to let it drop in with some jostling.

Especially if everything is warm and flexible. So I decided to move it.

1000004662.jpg

Here we are in the new spot next to the fuses and relay box for the upfitter switches in front of the battery. Used a piece of 1" square aluminum stock to position it properly.

Just removed the bracket first and drilled some holes for 1/4x20 hardware with nylok nuts and washers. By far the biggest pain was new hose. Buying it...easy, cutting the connectors out of the old hoses...easy. Getting the connectors IN the new hose, even with grease, good god what a pita.

But it's done and in a safer spot now.

This was a couple of days ago, but I finally picked up a Scangauge 3. I'm making this post to tell you how great a purchase it was. I love it. I like seeing all the different parameters in real-time, especially the trans temp, boost, intake temp etc. And the capability I thought I would use least, the detailed fuel mileage stats, I use often already. It's just awesome. Scanning for "X-Gauges" is simple and the in-depth information you can display is just amazing. The mount is surprisingly solid while also being magnetic and it doesn't block my view of the road.

There is only 1 problem; now I want another one for my main commuter car. In short, I HIGHLY recommend procuring one at your earliest convenience.

The transmission has a temp sensor from factory or you had to add one for it to display?

✅ Ready Lift Rear Intrusion Bars (fronts were done 2 weeks ago)
✅ Tremor Fender Flares
✅ Rokbloks XL Mudflaps (only got to the fronts)
✅ Tapped side marker wires to connect the backlight in the Diode Dynamics Elite Series Fogs (just need to pull the air dams back off and connect).

Another solid Modify Monday.

The transmission has a temp sensor from factory or you had to add one for it to display?
The Scan Gauge 3 will monitor the factory sensors if available....
The Ranger does and the Gauge keeps track of trans and coolant temps.
