Anyone say, I should have purchased a different truck?

Yeah I saw that recyclable looking interior first hand lol.

I actually do like the rangers interior(other than needing t rex arms for the window buttons) it was one of the big things that attracted me to the truck.
Yeah, in Australia for many years the Mazda BT 50 was a Mazda badged version of the ranger with different body panels (but same body shell and glass) and a different Mazda designed interior, Ford should have copied the Mazda door card, which had the armrest and window buttons in a much more natural position - and it didn't squeak like mine does either. (see pic) Mazda eventually had a falling out with Ford over a number of issues, their pickups are now Isuzu D Max based.

Yeah you lost me at "ratchet strap" :) Thanks for the tip
Yes if you don't use a ratchet strap then the only other way to install them is to put the top bolt on first, then be ready to line up the bottom one real fast when you let the loop holding them compressed go!

Other than a loose electrical connector in the drivers door (easy fix) I haven't had any issues at all. I will admit I am a bit disappointed in the gas mileage, but I do have a high mpg car as a daily driver so it doesn't affect me that much. I have owned other brands and the Ranger stacks up well. A lot of members come here to get help with an issue, so there is a disproportionate amount of complaints to member ratio which is not reflected in the ownership at large.

By and large I'm pretty happy with mine, it's a 2015 model (Global 5G's have been available here since 2011) I bought second hand in early 2019, it had been owned by an old couple for pulling their caravan and had low mileage, good service history, and was in almost as new condition. It also had most of the accessories I would have wanted, already fitted so saved me quite a bit of time and cash.

Likes:
Looks good - best looking ute on the market
Plenty of room in the tub for a dual cab.
Nice ride for a ute, even empty, it's my daily driver
Simple, functional, comfortable interior, driving long distances no problem at all.

Good power and economy from the Ford 3.2 i5 diesel, also very smooth and quiet for a diesel.
6 speed ZF designed Auto is smooth shifting and quiet (since I changed the "lifetime" oil)
Ford should have stayed with this box, or maybe licensed the ZF 8 speed instead of designing that 10 speed thing, no good can come from co-desiging a major component with your principal competitor.

Perfectly happy with the Borg Warner part time transfer case. AWD isn't really needed here (no snow)

Solid Cast iron front diff housing, and banjo rear diff, the new G6 models have the same Dana Salisbury rear axle as your models.

Tows my 2,400 Kg caravan easily and well

Eats up dirt roads and tracks like you were still on the tar, also excellent off road and on sand.

So far pretty reliable ( 127,000 Km) nothing major has broken

Still on original brakes, which still work well

First Ford I've ever owned which doesn't leak!!! Our summer storms here can be pretty intense.

Fantastic re-sale value over here - I could probably sell it after nearly 5 years of ownership for close to what I paid for it.

Dislikes:
Paint job-I love the color, but paint quality is ordinary at best, very thin, chips really easily, roof and bonnet are faded and rough compared to the sides, with pinholes - but this could just be our harsh climate here - yes it IS washed and polished regularly
Upside is however, at least it looks like Ford actually painted the whole car, not just where you can see - unlike some of my earlier Fords. Rust doesn't seem to be a problem with these utes.

Door top exterior rubbers are utter crap, first they turned white and then simply crumbled, I need to replace all 4- I've never EVER had a car less than 10 years old that this has happened to. By comparison my son's Hyundai Santa Fe ( which used to be mine and is 5 years older, the door rubbers still look like new)

Position of the window switches on the armrest, WTF, who designed this door card, a T Rex!
Armrest squeaks / creaks- annoying, but heh, really - first world problem, I'm used to it now.

Fragility of some of the interior plastics, both my front seat lower trims are broken - I've given up replacing them. Both the design of the clips, and the plastic material itself are just poor. The seat covers hold them in place

My sun glass holder decided to give up this week, it will no longer stay up - and you have to buy the whole roof console to fix it - at least it's available and only mildly extortionate in price.

Rear shocks went soft - could have been from towing, and our shit roads, so not blaming Ford, I replaced them with Monroe heavy duty 4x4 gas, car rides even better now, and doesn't porpoise with a load on any more - front shocks still seem fine.

So overall I'm pretty happy, most of my complaints seem to be relayed to cost cutting on trim and finish. I would buy again.

I did Eibach's on all four corners and the ride improved a LOT! Also used a ratchet strap to compress the rear shocks for an easy install, not as fast with my hands as I used to be :)

Everyday I lose sleep over the bed height, potential fuel in oil, transmission shifting, and now the dreaded noisy fan.
And EGR valve, warped heater box/blend door, water leaking into spark plug recess, driveshaft center bearing, short battery life

My 2019 has been a reliable truck overall. I really can't complain about much except I did have the HVAC box replaced under extended warranty. Vehicles today, Ranger included, have become very complex and can have many issues. I still am very happy with it even with the little idiosyncrasies that occur now and ten. It only has 18,500 miles on it and it looks like new.

Absolutely my favorite truck I've ever owned going back to the early 80's , I look forward to driving it and sometimes just make up excuses to go somewhere, that being said , I would not own it without an extended warranty , lots of expensive fixes if things go bad , none of the other trucks i test drove had any "wow" factor to me at all , but the Ranger did and does , sorry yours didn't work out for you ...
Agree man. I sold my '14 Tacoma TRD Off Road and got a Ranger Lariat FX4. The powertrain is a gazillion times better. Low end torque is so nice. And the comfort level..I am 6'3 and I am not claustrophobic In it like the Taco. I am at 40K miles. Mine has no squeaks or anything. I do a lot of kayaking and hiking in Northern WI where I live. No issues on crappy roads. Has handled deep winters fine. I am perfectly happy with it.

I’m only bringing up the real issues, of course!

Just kidding - some have been genuinely unlucky. Ready to deal with issues as they come, like anything in life

I’m not even sure his didn’t work out. I think all the transmission/surging/shuddering/blend door/fuel-in-oil posts have scared the pants off him. ?
Me too, but I still love my truck.

Sadly never been in anything older than a 89' model so can't attest.
I’ve had a new 95, 98, a 2001, and now a 2019. My transmission went out on my 2001 at 62,000 miles, had a bad 4x4 control unit at 32,000 miles on my 19, currently 42,000. I’ve had a pretty good run with mine. I like ‘em.

A 2020 with 69500 miles as of today.
EGR Valve was replaced for the bucking, I did myself.

My rear window was replaced under warranty because the part that plugs in peeled off the glass because the wire is to short. Now it is left unplugged I have to make an extension. But I’ve never needed a rear defroster.

Over the summer my passenger AC stopped working and was stuck on heat only. It’s fine for the winter but looks like over the summer I may take a stab at replacing my blend door. Or whatever the part is.

After installing the Roadactive suspension my leafs squeak a little but that’s on me. New shocks and coil overs were a solid voluntary improvement, as with the headlight.
I installed a trailer brake controller and now my third break like does not work but that’s just a poor connection I have to redo.

Yeah, the first one I could compress by hand and get it set. The second one needed a 2x4 and a scissor jack to compress.

I wish I had known about the ratchet strap trick.
