I dont have any of the normal issues with my 21, I got it 7 months ago with 13k on it, I just turned 20K and use Amsoil oil and filter (and gas treatment) because how bad could it be? I abuse the shit out of my truck, my Explorer still ran great at almost 300k getting 22mpg I ran Mobile 1 and Fram ultra in it, and it never burnt a drop of oil, since I had such good luck with it I would have just kept using it but friend talked me into Amsoil, I am sure its all hype and mind F*** BullS*** but it at least has to be as good as mobile 1 right?
my lawnmowers still get Mobile 1 because a $175 F***ING oil change is BULL**** in it self ....
So, your "friend" talked you into using oil that's primarily hype, and costs more ???
I can be your friend.....and I have this really neat, loooong bridge I can sell you cheap !!!

Mine dilutes down a bit and ends up having 2-5% fuel in oil per Blackstone. 5w30 mobil tests at 5w20 at 5k mile intervals. I'm going to start running the 5w40 European blend now that they upped the api spec to SP. This is my second ecoboost, first was a 2013 f150 gen1 3.5. It had severe fuel dilution that I was unaware of as the dealer never mentioned it during service and I wasn't a member of a f150 forum at that time. They did replace the full timing chain set at about 25k miles in it under warranty due to stretch and replaced some pcv system components that were said to be causing the issue. Got rid of it shortly after as I was driving a lot and needed something I could rely on. The ranger is my first ecoboost since 2013. The issue/non-issue is minor at best comparatively. I just would not dare go over 5k miles per oil change personally.

That would be FBI back then. Today it would be CIA since most of the parts are not made in USA.
You think the CIA and FBI follow the law about their jurisdictions?
Yeah. I do too.

That isn't conspiracy, it happens. Grandmother had a '78 Granada with Granada badge on one side and Monarch (Mercury version) on the other. We weren't sure if it was a Monada or Granarch.
It would be grandma's Gran Mo

Sounds like a conspiracy, like the Chrysler that came off the line back in the day with Duster badges on one side and Demon badges on the other...
Chrysler was notorious for things like that. Body colored mirror on one side and chrome on the other side or a black stripe on one side and a white stripe on the other side. Both Dodge and Plymouth sold the Neon. They were shipped from the factory with both brand emblems in the trunk. The dealer would put the appropriate emblems for the brand during dealer prep on.

ok yall know i dont really use that stuff right lol. i been sucked into the mobil 1 cult. however - i dont think using another brand would be any issue as long as its the correct stuff the manufacturer listed.

Not gonna lie. I see a lot of folks on here swear by Mobil 1. FordBossMe isn’t a fan but I may give it a shot just for kicks.

Amsoil is certainly thicker than Mobil 1 at start-up. What was draggy and slow moving coming out of my driveway (I.e. struggles to wind up to 2,000 RPM in 1st and lifter noise) is silent and smooth with Mobil 1.

I’ve tried them back to back in my Ranger, the NEW Mobil 1 fill was way thinner than the old Amsoil, and the day I put in Amsoil, I feel like I had a lot more drag in the engine.

Keep in mind, same day, same temps, just draining and filling at 7,500 miles and then sending to Blackstone.

The proof is in the pudding. I’ll post some Blackstone reports when I have them handy.

Oh man I gotta chime in on this in! Too much fun not too.

Run non synthetic, whatever you want, and change it every 3k mi.

Run a full synthetic and change it every 5k (even the ā€œcultā€ of Amsoil).

Your (our) poorly engineered EcoBoost engine will, or will not last the same amount of miles / years. Seems like our tranny, drive shaft, lack of ā€œcatch canā€, or ā€œdeleted itemsā€ will kill our ā€œbuilt Ford toughā€ trucks, before the engine oil will.

Wait wait…. So do I have this right? Mobil is hype, more than Amsoil????

Use an API synthetic and change it WAY before the Ford ā€œI know more than youā€ computer tells you to. With the price of fuel these days an oil change is the cheapest thing you can do.

I know right, those Amsoil guys are pushy AF, and since I had been running Mobile One (and thats not cheap either) for 4 decades and it has never let me down under my heavy use
and I dont care about getting 400k miles out of it, I replace vehicles at 250k anyway, I just want a fairly trouble free 250k
that Amsoil change cost me $154+ plus I was pushed into 2 bottles of gas treatment LOL damn Skippy I aint doing that every 5k miles!

The proof is in the pudding, Amsoil does post a higher TBN in Blackstone reports but other things it isn’t always great on. For me, that was ZDDP and fuel economy.

Too much zinc can kill cats (which I have had experienced, luckily was fixed under warranty) and the loss of fuel economy due to the slightly thicker weight (at all temps) compared to Mobil 1 made me switch back to Mobil 1

FWIW I believe Amsoil protects well in high performance or racing applications, but the cost, lower fuel economy, and availability makes it not worth it to me.

As mentioned, I’ll have some back-to-back Blackstone reports coming soon.

I think people will have different experiences. Not discrediting what you r saying and have on paper.
For my experience using Amsoil Signature Series as far as fuel economy goes I went from an average of 14.2L/100km to 13.4L/100km. No mods done to the motor and have always run premium fuel.
A diesel guy I sell to has a Ram 5.9L Diesel Cummins went from 12.2L/100km to 11.6L/100km. Same thing just from switching from Rotella.
Again just from my experience .??

Here’s my readings at 11,000km oil change.
