Here’s my readings at 11,000km oil change.

This amount of Zinc is acceptable for our motors. I do agree though if an oil has 1500ppm of zinc or it is definitely hard on the cats.??. No cats then the engine will love you for protection.

The proof is in the pudding, Amsoil does post a higher TBN in Blackstone reports but other things it isn’t always great on. For me, that was ZDDP and fuel economy.

Too much zinc can kill cats (which I have had experienced, luckily was fixed under warranty) and the loss of fuel economy due to the slightly thicker weight (at all temps) compared to Mobil 1 made me switch back to Mobil 1

FWIW I believe Amsoil protects well in high performance or racing applications, but the cost, lower fuel economy, and availability makes it not worth it to me.

As mentioned, I’ll have some back-to-back Blackstone reports coming soon.
I too noticed lower fuel economy, not by much maybe 1.5 to 2 MPG but still over a year or just over a tank 2 gal is 40 miles, 2 gal I didnt have to lose
I am also switching back to Mobile 1 next change

You guys mustve been using olive oil before switching to another brand to notice any kind of mpg loss on the same weight oil, hell i saw no difference in mpg going from 0w-30 to 0w-40 over 5k miles.

Had to use Mobil 1 in a pinch over my usual amsoil fill and saw no difference either in mpg or noise.
