Oil paranoia question 🤣

My OCD won’t let me go past 3K, maybe 4 tops of I’m on a long road trip and that was with any previous car I owned.

Then any decent quality oil will suffice. I would not sweat it with that few miles between oil changes if your doing just normal driving.

Maybe unpopular but I always look at amsoil as the equivalent of holistic health based mlm. I don’t think your ranger will care as long as at minimum meets the specs whether that’s motor craft or something much more expensive.

I just dumped the Amsoil for Mobil 1 and it’s like night and day. I feel like Amsoil was like a 5W-40 Euro oil in 5W-30 weight and dragged the engine a lot.

Mobil 1 feels much more like the stock oil.

Many manufacturers have gone with Mobile 1 or Castrol. My older brother tried to say that Mobile 1 didn't offer enough protection. My argument to him was simple. I asked him why many manufacturers and racing teams recommended it instead of Amsoil. He didn't have a response

Ya I know...but that's become such a meme that it's synonymous with having a Ranger lol...I don't have that issue either thank God...when they ran the my Ranger down the line, they gave it the f'd up trans...the one after that, oil in gas...the next one, give that sucker the air duct mixer snafu...

At least it made it 98K miles before it grenaded itself. With the way my trans is beginning to act, mine might be sooner (28K). Going to be scheduling an appt to have it checked out real soon.

All oil will mix with gas if you let it. Also not all Rangers had said issue as mine did not.

I have had (4) direct injected turbo charged Fords (including my Ranger) and none of them have had an issue with fuel dilution. Never had the oil level climb and the oil has never had a gas smell.

FWIW, I have been driving 4cyl turbo charged vehicles as my daily drivers for the past 38 years and have accumulated almost a million miles on them. I have never had a turbo or internal engine failure using whatever synthetic oil that is on sale at the time of an oil change. My oil change intervals have always been 7500 miles. Even the owners manual for my 1968 Barracuda recommends 6000 mile oil changes. The 3000 mile oil change paranoia was something Jiffy Lube and the other quick change outfits pushed to increase profits.

Because Mobile 1 pays them to lol. Sponsorships work that way, that logic is fundamentally flawed in a lot of ways, pirelli supplies all the tires for f1 but are they the best tire? No, they paid and applied for the right to have f1 use their tires/

As long as you stick to the correct viscosity, you'll be fine with either oil, and switching won't hurt anything. Amsoil isn't really thicker, they way we think of, for example, grease being thicker than water. Amsoil products maintains its viscosity at or above operating temperatures. That's why you're seeing that Amsoil is a thicker oil, it isn't really. You'll still have a 5W-30 at 180 degrees (or whatever the running temp is), other oils tend to thin out when they warm up. Same goes for their transmission fluid and gear oils too.

I’ve been running Amsoil and Filter since my second oil change. It has a higher film strength than the majority. I’m doing 15,000km (9000 mile) intervals with oil analysis. No fuel in the oil thankfully from my last oil test.

Since my first oil change I’ve been using Amsoil. I am a member but got on the bandwagon because a highly rated local garage uses it.
I have no complaints, truck runs flawless but I’d like to experiment I guess and thinking on running Pennzoil Ultra Platinum next.
Looking at the data, Amsoil is a “thicker” 5W-30 than the PUP.
My “paranoia” is that my engine is used to the “thicker” oil and the “thinner” PUP may make the engine noisier.
When fall arrives and the days get darker earlier I obsess over silly things. ? This classified as one of those?

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30 is only oil I have ever used in mine. Amazon has it for 32.00 for 5 quart jug. I use Motorcraft FL- 910 oil filter. It is a great combination. I was talking to a Ford mechanic about it and he had switched to it for his ecoboost because of the positive things he had read about it.
